White Hawkeye UK STi Stolen - Tamworth
My mates White 55 plate UK STi was stolen from his home in Tamworth, Staffs last night. It was standard apart from an aftermarket stereo, gloss black 18" Prodrive PFF's and a full black leather interior..
Probably long gone by now, but the leather interior being pretty unique may be offered to someone somewhere. Contact Tamworth Police on 0845 330 2010. Thanks

He's had a few incidents which seem to have been people checking out this and his last Impreza in the past, which he reported to the Police, clearly it was a planned theft and yep, they took the keys.
It has a Tracker but he's told that they can't Track it whilst the keys are in it :/
Like anyone else who has been in this sort of situation he's now questioning wether to bother with a nice motor again...

Thats rubbish about the Tracker - on 3 different false alarms on my Tracker they told me were I'd come from and where I was - you do wonder about our Police force sometimes........

If it's a UK STi, surely it's fitted with RAC Trackstar?
Who has told him that you can't track it while the keys are in it?
You might want to get the reference number for the incident and put it on your first post. If someone does spot it and rings up they're going to have no idea about the details of the job and it'll take forever to search through 2 days worth of stuff.
Hope he gets the car back, will keep 'em peeled on the motorway

Ok, just put my official hat on and spoken to a manager at Trackstar.
They can track it if it's been twocced with the keys, the only exception being if the unit has gone to sleep. Like I said, he needs to be asking some questions of Trackstar if that's the information he's been given.
If your mate wants to confirm this with said manager at Trackstar, PM me and I'll supply you with her details.

Thanks guys, TDT, he spoke to Trackstar again this morning, as you say it has 'gone to sleep' and they can only track it when it is started/moved again.. as it is probably now in a container somewhere that seems unlikely...
Bagpipes, yep it was a hawkeye.
Daniel, may have been same, as I mentioned my mate has had a few cases of people taking an 'active interest' in his motors before..

The Trackstar system goes to sleep after about 3 hours (IIRC). It can't be fired up remotely as it is in effect switched off.
So, you have to wait for the car to move again before it can be tracked.
Just a though Bryn, might be worth getting your mate to check with Trackstar that the motion centre was activated properly (they forgot to do it on mine so when it was taken away on a truck I didn't hear a squeak from them).

Comisserations to the Poor owner
i would be utterly amazed if there is any Theiving Scumbags in the UK that doesn't know that tracker devices are fitted as STD to Scoobs bar from oppertunists
1) Steal the Keys
2) Find the "Tracker"
3) Sell the Car
All Tracking Devices recieve GPS for positioning but it's the Signal Output to the tracking Center the Crims want to stop
GSM (mobile phone based) are great very small and harder to find but outputs are the easiest to stop, with a mobile blocker, find the unit and in their own time and remove the Sim.
RF types harder to block but require a far far bigger Aerial and not much metal between it and the Sky so much easier to find aerial and not the unit and cut the Co-ax.
Either Signal Blocked, Sim removal or Cut Aerial would put the unit "To Sleep" permently.
IIRC
