Default Looking to Buy Used

Hello! After much thought, and a failed attempt with a BMW328 - I am looking to buy a used, pref low mileage unmodified Impreza. I have had a look at this site, and can see there are quite a few models.

I'd be looking to spend between £8 and £9k, and would want a 2.0 Turbo - this is where I seem to lose just how many different models there are.

I understand they are all 2.0 litre and all full time 4WD. Is there a model history that summarises car , model name and power output etc etc?

Also, looking on pistonheads.com there are about 270 for sale, which is quite a lot, why so many for sale? Are people fed up with them? Would I be buying someone elses problems?

This would be a second car, so fun use, possible trackday etc.

Appreciate any help.

Richard.

Can I suggest mine if you're after low mileage?

But to answer your question, try looking here Subaru Impreza FAQ

It has plenty of details about the UK / Import models, and special editions etc.

Cheers for the responses. I guess I am looking for the classic shape. The car for sale posted in this thread is a 3 door version, which I have not seen before, so this is the kind of thing I am looking for, like a data sheet that has model, year, doors, power etc etc...

Ideally looking for UK car, dont know why, just seems a sfaer buy - althogh I guess they were all built in Japan anyway?

If you're only after a UK car, it will be a Turbo 2000. Not wrx, not sti, not type-r etc. They will be 4 door (or 5 with wagon).

I would personally consider JDM (japan import), but not everyone wants one.
