The old STI was rumoured to be 300PS (295bhp) but because of the gentlemans agreement it was always badged as 280PS (276bhp). With the new engine changes and the right fuel 300+ bhp might be a fair estimate. I guess we will have to wait and see .

if they say 280ps then it will be 280ps, just have a look at the dyno site and you will find that most sti v/vi will only put out 270bhp as standard.
dealers talk crap, i usually know more about the cars they sell

Are there any rolling road power/torque figures for the Jap spec STi VII? Anyone tested one over 0-60mph and/or 1/4 mile? A dealer in the UK claims real power is well over 300bhp, but frankly I don't believe it. Hoping to see what the "truth" is really. I guess that with Optimax and octane booster you could achieve a RON of around 100, so performance figures in UK should be close to official 280ps.

Agree with Sam,the Uk dealer I spoke to reckoned that by just changing the exhaust on the UK STi would bring it from 265BHP to 300 BHP! Obviously the ECU is'nt mapped to only provide 265BHP or anything!!! Type R STi's were always rumoured to provide 310 ish BH(because of intercooler spray etc) rolling roads proved this to be very untrue. And was'nt it strongly hinted when the 22B was released that it was actually going to have 350 BHP!!
