Faith restored in Police force shocker...

Was pulled over on Saturday night in the early hours, for allegedly exceeding the speed limit somewhat. Cough cough

Policeman got out, met him halfway, started off making a gag that it isn't wise to speed when a police car is following and do I normally do silly things like that. He asked me to confirm my name and the address the car is registered, told me to slow down as it might be icy and then let me go! Now he was about the same age as me (late 20's) and wasn't a traffic cop, I wonder if that had something to do with it?

Anyway good work fella, should be more out there like you!

Chelle,

I though he could still do you even though he is on his own. I thought it was only in Scotland that they need to have 2 police persons (staying PC here )?

Last time I was done the policeman was on his own. He had a total sense of humour failure and even though I was something like 1.7mph over the 3 points/£40 scenario he did me for the greater charge. Ended up with 5 points and a £350 fine.

Reason I posted this was because he was jokey and was more interested in taking the pi55 out of me. I thought it made a refreshing change.

I think it's a point of 'confirmation' that 2 are needed - 1 & a camera is OK, 2 without a camera is OK.
That's what I heard, anyway.

Question

Is that right? I was doing 90mph, what if I'd been doing over a 100? (hypothetical situation of course)..

NOT only traffic cars have calibrated speedo's. Depends on the force entirely.

2 opinions or 1 opinion and a mechanical masurement will do it.

Cheers

I remember a few years back in my seriously lowered 66 VW Beetle, just come out a club about 3am I drove straight through a red light, didn't even see it. On came the blue'ies I was tugged

The copper said "next time you go through a red light check its not the old bill following you"

Laughed, got back in his car and let me go
Chuffing excellent!

Cool

John is right. (For once )

I overtook a slow Police dog van (lol i know!) at 55 in a 40.
He did pull me but just gave me a ticking off.
There was 2 of them in the van but no way did it have a calibrated
speedo so there was nothing he could do about it. Although he
pretended he was doing me a 'good' turn by not booking me

I heard that if you get pulled by a radar it can only stand if the gun has been calibrated on the last xx months, and that due to lack of funds/poor administration in some forces most of the guns do not have valid calibration certificates.

Hence won't stand up in court.

ps you aint seen me right!
