OMG my06/07 WRX returned 220 miles
G Day.
is this right.
im getting 220 miles to a full tank of v-power in my standard 2.5 wrx.
i mean i just thought it might have been bad whilst running in but ive done 1000 miles now and still just polished off another tank and got 230 miles and thats with the red light being on for a while.
ive been reading other wrx members getting 260 -290 out of a tank.
since ive been running in, i havnt even been putting my foot down etc....
any tips on saving petrol.
many thanks
Jamie

I usually fill up when I hit the last quarter (45 litres) and I usually have 220-230 miles for that. That is a standard MY05 2.0 WRX, but I have just got the PPP fitted so we'll see what happens to fuel consumption

Same here, running ~340bhp and av 22 mpg around town or 280 to 300 ea silly from a full tank..!
This is from a 2.0ltr however, so maybe the 2.5 is more thirsty..? Either way get it remapped and gain around 50+ bhp and better MPG, believe it or not (as well as infinitely better drivability/response)..
BTW mostly shortish trips for me..!

I have a brand new WRX (non PPP, getting that fitted 25th Jan) and I get about 230 miles to the tank around town and a lot of country roads driving. When I was runing it in, I was getting between 230 - 240. On motorway you will get more between 280 - 300. On my MY '03 WRX with PPP I was getting the same sort of MPG as I do with this one. Like billyray says, welcome to scooby ownership!

220 seems to be the magic number for me with Scooby fuel tanks:
My STi would only return 220 on a full tank (which was pain, as that would only cover me two days of driving to work and back) :O
Got a Forester XT now (which I have the odd blip in, but nowhere near how I used to drive the STi), and I still only get 220 miles out of it...

Who cares how many miles you got from a tank .... If you're horrified at only getting 200 or whatever the figure is you are a plum for buying a car without doing some research.
As for those who get 330 from a tank the cars are wasted on you, wouldn't a yaris be more up your alley?

I really have never understood the endless constant chatter about mpg and scoobies. I just don't get it.
Conservation of energy dictates that if you use lots of power, you have to create it, and that means burning more fuel. Sure, if you just cruise around the place, then you can start and approach the same consumption as a lower power vehicle....but then whats the point in getting your high power car in the first place?
230 is good, get used to the power and live somewhere that has good non motorway miles and you may see 120 from a tank. Go to a track and use a full tank in less than 100.

fuel saving tip
Purchase a flat cap, pipe & slippers & drive in the middle lane at 40mph. In fact, drive everywhere at 40mph, towns, motorways, country lanes. Many do & it must work for them
Subaru & miles per gallon - why ask?????????

Greerwrx, I am afraid that if the last 1000 miles are typical of the sort of driving you regularly do then you should expect this kind of rubbish economy. If you spend you time blasting around deserted country lanes then I am sure you'll put up with it, but if you are like most people and you spend a lot of time sitting in traffic then you are going to get a big hump. I got rid of my STI for just this reason. Sorry. I could go on and on.....(I know I frequently do )
