JDM differs over the uk in several departments, mainly mechanical.

Engine.

Hypereuetic pistons, stronger than the forged ones you get in the UK cars
Twin scroll turbo (better power delivery)
Equal length manifold
Basically there is like 80% difference in the engines between the UK and JDM cars.

A-DCCD (auto drivers controlled differential, not available as standard on the UK cars until 2005)
Rear wiper
Higher rev range
Slightly lighter
More powerful
Tyres are still 225/45/17, though the JDM has RE070's v the UK's 040's (the 2005 model changed PCD from 100 to 114 and tyres on the JDM's were 235 v 225).
Go out and test drive both of them, the JDM is a far nicer car, easier to drive, shorter 5th and 6th ratio's and 350-360bhp is easily gained with an exhaust and remap.

The jap import will cost you more to insure though. But i think the other benefits outway that.

Are sceond hand Newage JDM Sti's difficult to come by at UK Garages ( ie rather than a private sale ) ? Don't see many 3 year old cars advertised.

And what's the bhp on the std JDM Sti ?

You wont find many, if any at the dealers. I was interested in one when lOOking, but they are quite rare, or were then.

Closer to 300 than 280.

Gaz, when you say you won't find them at the dealers, do you mean "Subaru Dealers", or just any Car Dealers ?

cheers mate.

You'll need a specialist mate. Why? You thinking of changing, rather than upgrading?

I'll go JDM next time, if they continue to be so superior. If nothing more than for the rear wiper (especially in this weather!!!!)
