Default dilemma..what do i do ???

when i went to the importers to buy a car on wednesday i had enough to buy a std wrx but not the 555 sti that i had seen and my mate went to get a car too.so he said we can half in for it !! and i thought when i sold my wagon( the other day) which was menat to be gone before i went as i would have just bought it outright that he would accept a wee lift on his money and i would keep the car(as i love it )but he was under the impression(and would rather )put it up on ebay to see what it would make but i want it for myself !!! as that is what i thought he meant and was happy to do. he mentioned that he was happy to get a few hundred quid if i was wanting to keep it but it seems now he wants to put it up to see what it makes !!! what do i do ?? i can give him some extra but i dont want to throw a lot at him also.. so should i put it on ebay and say to him that i am willing to pay him half of what it makes (up to what i think its worth to me) or what ????? a bit pissed off as i was under the impression it was all cool to give him a wee lift ??? any suggestions ? honest ones !!!

right ok, cut your losses and your mate off while your at it.
if he is going to be a *****, tell him he will have to wait until you have the mulah OR sort some kind of deal out with your other car....

ah... right, so you have the money to pay him back?

if you do, give it him and then sort out what extra you are giving him for lending you the cash...... bearing in mind you are mates

yeah got the money now typical !! but i think he is under the impression he will make bigger money if we sell it as that was an option at the time but i did say i would like to keep it as i had been looking for something like this for a while to which he replied" as long as i get a wee turn out of it !"

really you need to sit down with him and sort it out, take the cash with you and explain that you want to keep it etc...
if he is a proper mate he will see where you are comming from.

who has the log book?
anything written down?

2 options...

1) Sell the car and make more money... Then pop back to the importers a few days/weeks later and buy a better car yourself.

2) If your mate sees it your way, he'll take the cash.

Push for "2)" but TBH "1)" isn't to be sniffed at. Not worth falling out over. Though if it won't sell on Ebay, maybe need to re-think.

PS: Is it SVA/UK registered now etc....

its a dec 95 sti 555 car so keeping it for me is a priority and it doesnt need sva'd but will be registered by thursday hopefully. your right it aint worth falling out over as we would only make a little profit from selling it but i would happily pay his share of a would be profit at the cars going rate as it wasnt cheap and the margin for profit is small now after trip, fuel reg. etc etc..so i will put it to him and go from there...hope it will be ok as i really like this one and they are rare now...we actually could have bought an older wrx each for what we chipped in to get this one...heart was ruling the head a little that day !!

Firstly, why would a 'mate' be willing to take a few hundred quid off you for a 'loan' that lasted about a week?

Secondly ...Stick it on Ebay, as people tend to see that as the lower end of the market & secondly it's the wrong time of year to sell a car, so IMHO youd be lucky to get near £4K for it ...& you could alway's sell it using your account & 'vet' potential buyers
