Default Buying a WRX UK model

Hi, new to this forum, I am buying a WRX UK spec model, hopefully pick it up in 10 days.
I currently own a Vauxhall Astra VXR running 300bhp, just can't use the power in wet or damp conditions, car just wants to go straight on so after looking at Scooby's a few times I've decided to go for a WRX.

What are the best tuning options for this car?
I want to be up to around 350 to 400Bhp

I will probably fit the Porsche Brake upgrade

What is the best all round suspension package?

Hi Welcome.

Nice car you have with the VXR

Getting 330/350 bhp you will need to spend a few quid

Bigger Injectors
Bigger Turbo
Sport cat or De Catt
Fuel Pump
Decatted Uppipe
Remap
Exhaust System
Panel filter or IK

Dependign how much you want obviouly relys on the size of the turbo, a STI8 VF35 with the above mods will get you 330BHP. I was told that 350 out of standard interals shoudl be ok but if you wan tto get 400bhp you may need too start uprating Internals = £££

So it may be better to go for a STI straight away, i wish id done that.

Welcome to the site mate,if you want to keep the warrenty you will have to wait,or their is the Prodrive Performance pack which is warrenty approved and takes you up to approx 265BHP.about a extra £2k AFAIK.its a personal choice.
Personally i would think about a MY05 STi.

Had a few options of car, the dealer had a 06 Spec D STI coming in, but the best deal was to go for the new WRX UK, possibly he offered me a better deal to go this way as it's a new car sold so better for his sales figures

I figure that what I have saved I have around £3500 to spend on upgrades before I'm nearing the cost quoted for an STI

Ask your dealer if they are doing a special offer on PPP as my dealer has offered it to me for £1000 usually £1700 {still negotiable iirc} this would be your first choice path. Otherwise you could goto Scoobyclinic and have there power upgrade {not warranty approved but easily removed} they do it for £1400. good luck

Remember, power isn't everything. I saw off virtually all comers up to 400bhp with my WRX PPP (265PS) due to the sublime handling afforded by AST's, Whiteline bars and links and a simply awesome geometry set-up. I was able to use all my power, all the time, where the more powerful cars are trying to control the power as well as the car. Cars over 400bhp were easy prey as the power/handling balance is so far out by then even the same kit I had struggles to control it.

If it were my money I'd be looking at a Euro import STi at about £21k, £1400 for the suspension sorting and another £1500 or so for 350bhp from Powerstation/Scoobyclinic et al. Of course, this also means you can do it in stages, spreading the expense. Then again, if it were my money I'd be banking it towards an 06 SpecC TypeRA

You may have already handed over your cash but if you havnt yet it may be worth looking at a euro import WRX if thats what your after. It will be uk spec but will only set you back £14,247 OTR!!!!!!! Leaves you with a lot of spare cash to carry out the mods you have mentioned. The price is from New Car Dealer, Buy New Cars at Used Car Prices AllBrandsNew
