I had my lights off today, and they are just like that shape wise. Mines not a wagon. What extra bit do you mean, the white bit with WRX on?

I suppose some people just leave them on, and some don't.

these are what you are looking for
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-IMPREZA...QQcmdZViewItem
that is an example..there shouldnt be anything below the bottom of the lens, unless they have taken the body strip as well..which is odd as that is color coded to the car (in this case on your advert, silver (ish) )
as long as the advert says for a
saloon then you are good to go.
but dont listen to me
and see you at the herts meet then

added info
to make it a saloon sti light you need the little bit of black plastic at the top...
a dead giveaway on the wagon lights is the extra dividing line in the white light cluster....plus the fact that the advert usually states it is for a wagon !!

Sara, Saloon Tail lights (OEM and STi) lights have a oblong reversing light. Wagons have rectangle reversing light.

I'll try and be a little clearer.
The wagon reversing lights are rectangle with 90 deg corners as you would expect. Now on a saloon, the courners are rounded off.

LOL. I was going to say, if someone is scrapping/breaking a car, they wouldn't bother removing that metal piece. But I thought someone would say something about "Who would scrap one?"
But yes, I do know, cos I bought some lights for mine, and I had to buy the metal pieces separate. My originals were wrapped round some lampost (not but me).
I would say 100% they are for a saloon, just by reading the description
