Default Halfords Super Brilliance Bulbs

Hi

Has anyone used these are what are they like ?
They are buy one get one free at the moment and i feel that the headlamps on my mark 5 GTI are brilliant.

Do you get a nice bright white light with these similar to xenons?

Cheers

Yeah I used these in my ZR 160,

They were no different in regards to brightness, however, they were a little whiter than the standard bulbs. If i didnt have xenons now I would of bought the blue version of the halfrauds bulbs

fitted some last week to an blobeye, as a bulb blew.

a lot brighter than standard but not as bright as the HIDs I'm going to get soon.

Halfords had a 2for1 so picked up a pair for £15 which I thought was OK

Got some on my sensible car. Got a set of dip beam as the originals were a bit dim and yellow and because they were bogof. Tried them that night and went straight back the next morning...... to get some for the main beam! They are very good for the money.

They are well worth having, even more so on BOGOF. They came first in a recent Auto Express test for output and optical performance.

I've got the Philips Vision Plus 50% brighter bulbs (H1 for dipped) - these came top of the H1 brigade in the AutoExpress tests and I have to say I am well happy with em.

Forgot to say - the Halfords H1 bulbs did not fair well, so it depends on which car you were talking about? I think the classics had H4 (full/dipped beam all in one) and the new age have seperate bulbs for both beams (H1). If you have a classic then Halfords are probably a good bet for that offer, but otherwise....go for Philips on Ebay for under £15 you'll get a pair (like I did).

No they don't, but when you look from the front the dipped lamps look as bright as the main beam. I have read that blue bulbs are not very good as the light scatters more so you don't get as good a visibility as white (plus I hate seeing blue tinges in the rear view mirror as it always makes my **** twitch):

If you want Blue ones, still go Philips:
Bulb test - H1 blue | Products | Auto Express

If you just want good white ones then here's why I decided:
Bulb test - H1 + 50 | Products | Auto Express

No worries. Got 3 or 4 mates onto the Philips bulbs (plus the missus's motor) and only one of them says they haven't made an amazing difference. I am well impressed and like to see when I'm booting it at night on my way home
