Default Advice needed on scooby's









Alright guys. Need some general advice. I just bought a scooby L reg with a goosed engine. The cams siezed so il have to strip it apart to see wits wrong. I paid £1700 for this car no obviously depending wots wrong will it be worth changing the engine. Its a jap import WRX. What BHP are these putting out. and what engine would be best and a possible cost of the engine. Im a honda mechanic but i know nothing of the subaru's so its a learning curve to find my feet im afraid.

here is the spec

Its a jap import wrx. with 76000 on the clock
Gleaming black paint with red pearl through it
toad alarm and imobiliser
tracker
coil overs, can adjust height, stiffness n camber
sti strut brace
tommy keira boost gauge
carbon affect dials
induction kit
sti rear spoiler
Black lexus lights with l.e.ds at side of them
front splitter
light weight titanium gold 17" wheels
rally mirrors not sure what make
bailey dump valve
De-cat Jap racing exhaust
tinted rear windows
sun strip
front tweeters
Good cd player with remote control and ball control for arm rest. think its sony

Pretty sure thats a 240ps WRX, so about 236bhp. Red inserts in the seats? Grey inserts its 260ps.

Induction kit and full exhaust could take it to about 255-260.

As for engine, as you are a mechanic that'll save you a small fortune as normally a rebuilt engine is about £3k.

Looks pretty clean though

yeah its certainly clean. Just have to see on the damage... Are second hand engines easy enough to pick up and what would be a decent engine to go for... and whats the going rate for the said engines.

go to andy forrests site he can supply and fit new short block engines for about 1500 go to site it has lot of info on the cars as well worth a visit

you could try jason at ScoobyBits | Subaru Specialists // New & Used Parts // Repairs & Servicing hes a breaker and a mechanic so im sure he would be happy to give you advice/pop you in the right direction...
