How to identify a Spec-C (blob eye) ???
have my eye on two blob eye (i think thats the right term, not latest shape, one before) STi Spec-C's.
Now whilst both cars are the 'same' they both seem pretty different.
Car A has... carbon rear wing, BBS lightweight wheels, STI bucket seats.
Car B has... Regular Sti wing (or v similar), Standard STi wheels, normal balck interior.
Now are these cars both spec-c just with different options?
Also car B has electric windows etc, i thought i heard spec-c's had wind down windows (i could be very wrong!)
so... can anyone shed some light on this, was there a list of options etc available???
thank you!

Biggest givaways are the engine oil cooler which is on the drivers side in the front near the number plate, the 12 ltr water tank in the boot, no rear wiper, the BBS alloys (they should ALL have BBS alloy wheels, anything different and id be asking why).
The low level spoiler as seen on the wrx is standard, no underseal etc, different radiator over other STi's etc.

Spec C Limiteds have electrics, 'base' Spec C's don't. As well as those points mentioned:
- No boot liner or sound deadening
- Rear strut brace (near intercooler waterspray tank)
- Half-sized battery
Here's mine: pauldyson.net - cars

NB 03 model Spec C Ltd's don't have the BBS wheels they have standard Sti wheels.
They do although have a full electric pack, i.e. central locking, aircon, electric windows, electric mirrors. Usually a Spec C doesn't although. When looking for mine I did find a Spec C that actually had aircon.
PS I thought the whole carbon rear wing thing was a mod started by Litchfield imports to make the Spec C look at bit special?
Heres my Spec C Ltd -

Car B's description is the same one that you would get in Litchfield's, sounds exactly the same as the red one he has just sold and the miles are not to far away either.
i have been keeping my eye on both of them as well.
Good luck.

Bascially the white one is a Spec C - i.e. it has BBS wheels and a blue black interior.
The red one looks like a Spec C Ltd, since it has Sti wheels and colour coded mirrors. The spoiler on this car has been changed to an large UK sti one, the genuine spoiler for this car should be as the one on the white car.
Other small things that seperate a Spec C Ltd from a Spec C is that a Ltd has totally black seats, a rev counter adjustable shift light, an outside temperature gauge, aircon, colour coded electric folding mirrors, electric windows, chrome surround to the gear stick and door handles, central locking, ali sti pedals.

Yep agree with sadam, the red one is a spec c ltd, it will have the full electrics pack, though its not got the BBS lightweight wheels (ive seen them with and without these, probably taken off when they get on the ship ) as those alloys are the standard "heavy weight" ones.
No difference in driving them though (between the 17inch and the limited).

True, but how many people will go to the hassle of replacing the entire cooling system, a fuel tank, an engine oil cooler, drilling a hole in the drivers side pillar and adding an ariel, drilling holes and adding the rear wiper, removing all the soundproofing, replacing all the suspension, replacing the turbocharger etc.
If you know what your looking for then its easy if you dont then yes, the model number, though you have to find out what that is first before you buy the car, which can be harder than you expect if you dont know where to look

The BBS wheels and STI seats on our white car were an expensive option when we bought the car new in 2003.
The Red car is the same one we sold recently (long story) and a Spec C Limited. We spoke to the dealer today about it and it sounds like a quick/messy divorce has meant it has come back up for a very good price!
Would have bought it back again if I'd known Someone will be pleased though
