Default hi all noob in the house with questions

hi all, ive been reading the forum for a few weeks now (and loving it)since buying my first scoob - bought a 95 import wagon auto for a price i couldnt turn down - woulda prefered a manual but that next i spose, anyway fitted new rad and 3 inch stainless from first cat back(sounds stunning too)

watching peoples videos and stuff some of these cars are popping and spitting like good ens, now i understand about the sound of dump valves but these are popping and banging and flaming away,

first question - what makes em do that?
(cause its sounds great lol)

how/ what do i do if i even can to up boost? and is it expensive?

what are the first / cheapest mods to start off with to give me some more ooomph, not even sure how much bhp i currently have

my other question is there s black button right at the front of my gear shifter console - anyone know what it does? its not the power button and its not the snow/diff lock

cheers all

i went out in a wrx yesterday that had a powerflow exhaust fitted and a k+n induction kit. the thing popped and banged like crazy, sounded VERY NICE

i would of thought basic mods would be the exhaust with decat, filter (some say dont use induction kits as a panel filter is better, not sure myself though ), then maybe a remap.
my mate has spoke to Well Lane Turbo Centre and they say these mods, with their remap, would take you running at 300bhp comfortably

Autos are not quicker 0-60 than manuals! How do you build up the revs for the launch with an auto??

How cheap being a version 1 you have 240bhp although if you get rid of that nasty cat that will add a few more.

ignore 34, its that time of the month and he is on the blob.

I thought wagons were 215bhp only the saloons were 240bhp. They still go well though.
