Please call me on 07717 451 283 or the police with (incident 105 of the 25th) if you spot a dark blue Renault Clio, index S822 MGB - will have damage to the passanger side where he clatered my car last night before driving off in Edinburgh.
Also missing 1 hub cap which I have in the boot of my car - where he will be if I catch him myself...
Was awoken about 1am this moning to the sounds of a car driving eraticaly outside - seemed to be just driving back and forth in a small area and then went into a car park area behind my car. On exiting he turned to tight and got his car stuck against the back corner of my waggon into his passanger side - reversed off the car and then shot of in other direction.
Police came and went - then an hour later I heard the same car - the little *** had come back looking for his hub cap it would appear as he was out the car in the street - I thought he had come back to own up, showed myself at the window at which point he jumped in the car and shot off - not without me getting the index this time though.
Not a happy chappy and so far the police have not even been back in touch nor will tell me the keepers address so I can see if the car is indeed damaged before he gets it fixed (in the hope that it is not stolen since he bothered to come back)
Also looking for someplace in Edinburgh to get the bumper pulled back into position and painted - hopefully damage is minimal - from the sound it made I expected a lot worse but the bumper seems to have taken the impact and moved into the car an inch or so without actually cracking. Expect I will have to pay for this myself so wish to avoid claiming my own insurance

I have no idea what the Police are doing about it.
Called 8am this morning, no call back, called about an hour again to be told that the officer dealing is off until the 20th March, then told someone else will get back to me..
getting another hour then gonna call again and kick up stink - dont want the time of the guy to get the car repaired!

Hope this helps, Andy

Release of another vehicle’s keeper details
You can obtain the name and address of the registered keeper of another vehicle if you can demonstrate ‘reasonable cause’ for needing the information. Information on the release of information and circumstances that DVLA has previously considered met ‘reasonable cause’ is available on the link below.
* Release of information from DVLA records
* members of the public should complete the form V888
* companies should either complete the V888/2 or V888/3 depending on how the company intends to use the information
The V888/2 should be used in all circumstances except where a penalty charge notice is to be issued. The V888/3 must be used if the keeper details are required to issue a penalty charge notice or reminder.
Please read the notes for guidance on the front of these forms carefully before completing the application.
You must provide full details of the reason for the enquiry, the vehicle registration mark(s) and supporting evidence. Incomplete details or failure to meet ‘reasonable cause’ will result in your application being refused.

Forgot to mention it costs £2.50 and you need to send the form to DCS (Data Subject Enquiries) D4, DVLA, Swansea SA6 7JL.
They do have a 50p a minute info line but wont release registered keeper details this way.

If you can prove that you have a need for it, the DVLA will release the registered keepers address. I guessd you have reason. There is a charge from memory though, you'll also need such things as a report from your insurance and a crime reference number.
If you have his registration number, then I think that you'll have a good chance of 'getting' him.
The police should be more interested though, from what you've said, maybe he was drunk/drugged etc.
Good luck.

I understand that you can apply to DVLA for the keeper details and there is a small charge although I don't know how this is done.
As far as the cops are concerened you will be at the very bottom of their huge pile of crap so don't expect much joy from them. It could take the cops months before they even visit the clio driver.
If the dealing ocifer is off for some time you will need to get on the right side of another cop and stress your concern, he may then visit the address just to sight the clio and record the damage until the other cop gets round to sorting it.
Either way,you have his reg, therefore your insurance co will contact him (if it's registered) and you can claim off his insurance.

Thats just the sort of remark id expect a Copper to make. FFS is it any wonder more and more people want to take the Law into there own hands? This Guy has done all the work for them and they still cant be arsed to do anything. The car will be fixed up by now. Bloody joke our Police.
