Default Why is my flap not opening?

The fuel filler flap that is... when pulling the filler flap release, you can hear the thing 'clicking' like it's working but the flap is not opening. Any ideas?

Does the cable release stretch over time, does it need tightening?

I'm running low and need to fill up but can't get in - I'm getting desperate now.

Whilst pulling the release lever get someone to gently try to pull the flap open, it could be that the spring has gone. Wether you can get to the release mechanism from inside the boot I am unsure.

had the same thing happen on my 300zx. IIRC it was the spring not pushing from the other side.
