Default My first Scooby Purchase

Hi all,

I am in the process of buying myself an Impreza, only trouble is i don't know where to start, there's so many different models out there.

I do want the classic shape, insurance is'nt an issue as i have had quotes for an STi which was pretty decent.

But are the imports less reliable because of no trace of history etc....

Any useful comments will be highly apreciated,

Thanks

Hi,

Just purchased a type R had a full RAC inspection done. They told me the Head gasket was leaking as was the power steering rack. Decided to go ahead anyway as it was a genuine car, according to the RAC Inspection.

Took the car upto Scooby Clinic to sort out the problems. The oil leak was a missing oil pressure gauge, not a problem new one fitted,RAC didnt notice. Wrong turbo fitted RAC didnt notice,no oil can on dash when key turned RAC didnt notice,What I'm trying to say is get someone who knows about these cars to take a look at whatever you buy as it's a specialist market.

Imports are no less reliable than a UK car - if they've been looked after correctly and had a UK remap (if needed). The only thing is the service history - but even that doesn't mean the car's not been driven hard etc.

Go by the overall condition of the car, if it looks right and looks to have been taken care of then the chances are it has.
