My Old GTI-R wins Test Day for Banzi Mag Shooyout!!
#1
My old GTI-R was in a shootout last week for Banzi Mag, it put out 300bhp and won, it posted :
0-60 4.51
0-100 12.71
1/4 mile 13 secs
not bad for the old bus, it already had a BIG exhaust, hks seq dump, i de-catted it put on an hks downpipe, hks filter/plugs and had the boost put up to 1.15bar and a Nismo racing clutch.
All of this was done by Hi-Teq perfomance who had a 400bhp pulsar which ironically mine beat.
J
Point being that my BIG RED 7 is quicker by a good margin!!!!!!!!!!!

Jason, sorry who told you this? I was there with my R and those figures were not the fastest on the day.
JG's car tuned by DP Motorsport, with a quoted 400bhp, only did 0-60 in 4.6 seconds (he's done 3.8 before) due to problems getting into second and other fuel problems, BUT it still went onto to do a 0-100 in........... 9.8 seconds!!!!!!!
That a potential of 9.0 seconds to 100 if he can get the second gear right!
There was also a car that did 4.4 second to 60, and there was another in the 11's to 100.
The weather was very poor with thick fog, during the morning I couldn't see 10 metres in front of me doing 111mph (recorded on GPS) let along the end of the run way. Frighting!

If you don't know what a GtiR is then they are the ugly cars with a big cheese grater on the bonnet and big wing on the roof, most are black, but they also come in grey, white, and red (and a lightweight off-white too if your picky).
They are quick with very mild but reliable mods if fuel's setup correctly (290bhp, low 13's 1/4, 0-100 in 12) but need loads of TLC. If you change the wheels, brakes, and mod the suspension slightly, then you can have a very capable car on your hands on a low budget. You can not run more than 1 bar boost on the original pistons, and the gearbox is very weak. Quilfe will soon have an uprated gearbox which will cope with the few 400bhp+ versions doing the rounds on a daily business.
How fast can they be? How about 11.02 second for the 1/4 mile as seen at:

It eats gearboxs, but that will soon be sorted as above, and i've heard its going to 2.2 litres, fibreglass panels and a few other mods next year.
