300 bhp impreza wagon or Impreza type R?
Ok got a 97 impreza wagon at the minute with 120k on the clock (but still running like a dream). My options are new turbo and fpr and remap to get near or achieve 300 bhp.
But i very much fancy a impreza type r. For the money i would be looking at about £7000 mark on new car. so would be looking at version 4ish.
My question to you is, what should i buy?
Save money and buy mods for my wagon?
Or buy the type r.
Will there be much in speed difference between a 300bhp wagon and a type r?
Cheers
Darren (hope you can help)

Darren, that choice is not so much about performance, it's about the style of the car.
#1 Very fast wagon is stealthy, some people don't like the styling.
#2 Type R all out drivers, DCCD fun, big wing and two doors.
me - 400+ BHP wagon anytime, but I really enjoyed the my 320BHP V5 Type R

At least with the wagon you can still take it shopping to Ikea?
I looked at swapping my 4 door for an R but after having 4 doors for so long and just chucking stuff in the back (plus a 5 year old daughter) I just couldn't get on with only 2 doors.
Another issue I have is that if you know your car inside out why not spend money on it rather than go for something else that might bite you with big bills. Just a thought anyway

It really depends on what you want from your car.
The Wagon has more space & doors and will probably be more comfortable on longer journeys however a Type R is a much more focused car. The ride is harsher than a wagon the drive has a rear wheel bias has less room and is unlikely to mathc the fuel economy of your wagon.
A standard V4 type R won't have the big rear wing either.
I've got a V4 Type R and have even passed up newer Evo's as I'm having alot of fun in this but it also isn't my every day car. Excellent acceleration both from standstill and in gear too.
Be very careful when looking at a potential purchase too as I would imagine a wagon would have had a far easier life than a Type R.
Anyhow decide on what you want out of your car and make your choice on that.
