192 Directory Enquiry

It took them over 6 months to remove me from their database.......and 8 months for them to remove my girlfriend.
I think there is some sort of option that allows you to see who is searching for your details, but as the free membership doesn't require any ID verification, it could be anyone!

If you're on the electoral register, which I believe you have to be by law, then rest assured, they will have you sooner or later. As far as I'm aware, the only people that aren't on the 192 database are the royals, celebs & probably the people who run 192
BTW I moved 4 times in five years & that was bad enough. Think I'd go mad after 7/7

There was a big legal wrangling back in the summer over the fact that Elton Johns' home address details were freely available on a website, not sure if it was 192.com though.
With regards 'celebs' not being on there, it would appear even they don't escape. Just done a search for one of my girlfriends mates who falls into that category, and her home address is freely available.
Whatever happenned to the right to privacy?

I agree with Simon - it is a bit scary. My surname is quite unusual and I was surprised to find so many people in my area sharing the same surname after doing a search (and no, they are not relatives before anyone asks )

Ah don't worry, it was the car that got hit not me.
Car was fixed on Friday under my insurance, but some consolation is that he is *definitely* in a whole heap of trouble, the police did not seem happy about him legging it (I swear I've never seen so many police cars zooming around trying to find someone !)
He tried the 'hip flask' defence (ie, take a drink after the accident), the police didn't seem to take this too well - I was listening to the whole thing over the police radio.
I'm just glad no-one was hurt by this idiot, can you imagine being knocked of your bike in the middle of no-where as the car that hit you dissapears into the distance .... I shudder to think.
