Default insurence, any buffs on here.

right then, i had my car stolen recently,(NOT A SCOOB), it was a 03 clio and i only paid £3k for it as they were desperate for the cash, i told the insurence company how much i paid and thought after sh@t i hope they give me book price for it, i rang them back and they said yes they will pay glasses guide price on the car which is around £4.5k. will they pay this or will they try to get away with paying me what i paid for it. anyone elase has this experience, cheers in advance.

I'm no expert but it's usually market value.
Insurers always try and give you a low offer first off.
If they're going to offer you 4k approx - you're quids in

Look in your T&Cs. Its almost definate that you are on a market value policy unless its an agreed value policy - which I doubt as they often require to see the car or a report etc and is mainly for classics or odd ***** etc. Only your T&Cs will tell you for sure.

The insurance company will pay out, what they think it will cost, to replace the vehicle, for another one of the same year/condition. Thats how it works regardless of what you paid for it.
