O.K. guys/girls,

Can I please have some suggestions for a 'new' Image Uploader utility, what do YOU want to see?

Basically it is going to move from secret.lab6.com to somewhere else (won't be for a while) so I want some ideas...

do you want image previews after uploading, email confirmation, retain the file name you originally had etc etc? drop em down and I'll ignore them completely

indeed... good idea but do people give files good filenames? NO!
that's why I chose the date-based filename format as it will be fairly unique and also means that people can't go around guessing filenames of other peoples images.

any more guys/girls?

Not sure bout the logistics of doing this, but it might be quite usefull if we could have thumbnails. Obvious advantages apply.

thumbnails aren't a problem, if you want to download them that is !

the system now displays a little thumbnail when you upload an image, as a preview.

are you saying that you would like some sort of index/catalogue page where you click a thumbnail and it tells you the BBS image tag?

Yes, something like that. At least this way, users with a relatively slow connection speed can make the decision whether to take the hit on download time.

What would be nice is scaling of the images so there size or resolution is limted and automaticly resized only if needed. The 56kers would be happy

Keeping original file names is only going to cause problems. How many people call there pics scooby.jpg or car.jpg? Random names is not a problem as you should never see the real name on the board.

 

there is already size and type limitations on file uploads, you can't just upload anything

The resolution limitation might be cool, do scoobynet image tags support width and height values?
