Do a search, there are lots of threads on this and a few people have done it over here. It is actually quite common place in europe though. Just the uk seems to have a hang up on it.

I am actually in the process of going through this at the moment as I do approx 20000 miles pa. The quotes I have had are around 1500-2000 and the fuel saving is reckoned to be around 1500 per year at this mileage.

This is what I have found so far.

Imprezas must be fitted with a 4 point injector system, not with a fuel mixer type system. They are all ecu controlled and interface with the existing system. To be fair not many places do the older type now anyway.

Some places will tell you it cant be done as they cant supply enough gas for the power.

There are a few installers who specialise in turbo and high performance vehicles though. They offer higher flow kits or twin injector kits which are suitable.

The one I am going should be rated to approx 400bhp so plenty of headroom. I will get about 80% of my current fuel economy but at 40p per litre. Or I can opt for having it running at reduced power while on lpg and switch over to petrol for high power. Havent decided which one to go for yet as I'm waiting on a final quote. Should have it by monday.

These are suitable for fitting on modded cars as they individually map the gas flow to suit the cars power needs. The lpg ecu reads the petrol injector signals, lambda and map/maf and squirts in the equivalent quantity of gas. This is custom mapped after fitting and all the engine sensors are monitored. Obviously if you had the petrol side remapped after fitting it would be advisable to have the gas side checked again though.

Initially I was sceptical but it seems the newer lpg systems are more than capable of safely running a powerful turbo car. A couple of years ago I wouldn't have done it but things move on so fast and the price has come down a lot.
