If its a larger TD05 then the one its mapped for and flows more air then it would need to be tweaked / remapped to suit.

Its a standard size TD05 with 360 roller bearing. The guy says it spools up quicker than a standard TD05. Will this go on without needing to be remapped ?

i should think, any change to the turbo that you had on there when it was mapped, will need the map tweeking

If i was you, if you are running a genuine 340bhp i would maybe go for the TD05 18g as the standard front entry TD05 will be on its limit around 350bhp, obviously you could go for the 20g but would be more laggy.

I wasn't looking for a new turbo, was going to repair my TD05 but have spotted an uprated TD05 for sale for quite a good price.

I thought that the TD05 had a white metal bearing surface.... without a ball bearing in sight.

TD05 pretty tough as it left the factory so I'd look for an OEM replacement

The one im looking at has had an uprated bearing fitted to it and the asking price is very little more than a standard secondhand one.
