Talking USING I-PODS IN THE SCOOB

I bought one of those Belkin FM transmitters for use with my wifes I Pod. The trouble is, the reception, so to speak is not very good.

So, I was wondering where the aeriel would be on these cars. Mine is an MY04 STi 8 (Blob Eye.)

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure the aerial is in the rear screen. I'm looking at this for my iPod.

Just tried one of these in my 2004 blobeye. It was bought off e-bay for £1. Sound was perfect using ipod in the car.

Not only that but I also tried it plugged into my house stereo and found that it still sounded great in the car about 5 metres away.

A mate said his needed the ipod to be turned up to full volume to work well. Don't see why but he reckons it makes a difference.

It was the same as this one if it helps:

you can vary the frequency that the belkin unit transmits on - pick a frequency that is clear of other stations, it sounds like poor reception if you are competing with radio 2 or something

Hi,

Got an I-Trip, and a tape thingy, both suck.

The I-Trip is a hassle for travelling with all the freqs. that are used up for radio, too many FM stations I guess.

The tape thingy in my MY05 (04) is ejected every time strangely enough, have tried millions of ways to get it working, but to no avail.

Thanks

i'm currently using theGrifin itrip auto (£20 of ebay) and it is about the best value fm transmitter solution. far better sound quality than the tape deck but still miles worse than a proper hardwired ipod connection to the head unit.

I bought a £1 cable in maplin and connected the iPod to the back of my headunit.

Its called a "3.5mm to RCA" cable.

You cant use the headunit to change the iPod but for 1 pound Im not complaining.

In your opinions, what would be the best Radio retrofit for a MY04 onwards Scooby, that incorporates all these features?

That is without actually altering anything in the radio console?

Thanks

Standard headunit is a Kenwood so why not try a Kenwood KCA iP500 Ipod adaptor to plug into the CD changer port at the back.

Mind you I'm not sure if it'll work so ignore me, replaced my standard HU with an aftermarket Kenwood and Ipod adaptor.

Here in southern europe the "standard" stereo is a single CD one, dunno if that makes a difference!

I have a Panasonic CQ-C7303N which has the iPod lead. http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/4628.html

I also have the Direct Audio 100 Watts 6.5" Shallow Mount Component Speaker Sysyem in the front - CSX 650. I have West Coast Custom (By Orion) 100 Watts 5.25" in the back - WCC-525CX.

The sound quality is out of this world! All I need now is an Sub, that will be the icing on the cake !!

Nice!!

But it does not complete the "double" space slot of the standard MY04 onwards radio, does it?

ehgp publishing ltd private pages

the link shows how to change the stereo, it also states the part for a shelf you need to fill the space left over by only using a single din.

I bought one of these a few months ago and have never looked back - i also fitted a Forester centre cubby holder with a hole drilled in the back for the cable and my ipod sits inside while driving.

With this h-unit you can do everything the ipod can while driving - its great

I had this in my MY03 and have swapped it into my MY06. I have an extra compartment now to put the remote and the Tom Tom remote in or as the days are getting more and more sunny, the shades!!

It does work well and looks a lot better than the standard one. The iPod is hidden in the glove box.
