PPP Results
Hi
looking at getting my 55 plate WRX PPP'd - I am joining SIDC and getting it for £995. Can anyone tell me if the pack gives the same results on all cars or varies. I for example only ever put in Tesco 99, or Shell V Power - would that make any odds?
And can you do much else to it after a PPP?

I got my 55 WRX PPP'd after 1yr. It made a definate improvement and the grin factor just got bigger. I went from ~22/23mpg down to 19/20mpg (no motorways) - only ever used Shell super from new. The noise is quality, better low down pick up and warranty is still covering everything. Rolling road done a few weeks ago gave 267bhp (206ish at the wheels) and 290ftlb torque at 3500revs. These figures are slightly better than what Subaru claim on the website so I am happy. Hope you get similar results 
Should also mention I have K&N panel filter.
I wont be doing anything else till warranty is up (plus no play funds right now). But I imagine suspension and brakes would be next before more power.

off topic slightly but i would save 10 grand and have a 300+bhp 50k mile jap sti classic and 10 grand to spare ! lighter, faster, better handling, better looking etc etc etc ... anyway, sorry for the intrusion !

Forgive my ignorance but how are you getting your PPP upgrade for £995 That sounds a bargain I will have one at that price.

If you want bang for your bucks and a manufacturer warranty, DO IT!!
I had my MY04 done September 06 and it still makes me grin! What a nice noise and a complete cure for the weaknesses of the standard car. (cue arguements from 300+BHP club!)
I didn't bother with 18" wheels and neither did the dealer push them. The car is better for it. It rides better in day to day stuff. (When do we ever really get to hoon it?)
Insurance wise I was with Privilege at around £600 fully comp protected NCB 42YO. When I mentioned PPP they mentioned the wrong side of a grand!
Now I am with A Plan and they seem OK. Same car with PPP around£700. Oh, parked on street, no garage and business use too!

why not get a full exhaust system for say £3-400 ish and then get the great bob rawle to map it?
i,ve got a full de-cat and a re-map on my WRX and i now get 276hp and 311lbft
Just a thought as bob actually told me some dealers down south dont sell ppp anymore they just advertise his re-maps instead

i,ve got a few other little things as well like a uprated fuel pump an air filter but i think it all came in around the grand mark an if i want to in the future i can get my car mapped again to suit further mods as i,ve already got the licence it will only cost £350 to get it mapped again

Obviously you are in SMACS (stands for?) I know CADS is the Cheshire club.
Never really thought about joining a local club. I already do alot of stuff out of work: cricket, scuba diving, football(season ticket holder with Crewe).
You will have to convince me!

Well to be honest it depends on what yourafter really, CADS is more family orientated and they meet in a pub called the waterside not far from northwich, they do a lot of days out to different events that the whole family can be involved in and also some good runs for adults only. SMACS is also family club they meet in alderley edge way (cant remember exact address,s for either but i can get you them no probs) SMACS have a lot more members from what i've witnessed and also have a lot of days out both family and fast runs. Why not try them and see which suits you, its always good to be in a club full of enthusiasts as you will only enjoy your scoob more.

In reality, it's more like "not all rolling roads read the same figures for the same car"
We've seen as much as 25bhp & 50lbft variation between rollers using the same car on the same fuel achieving the same boost and the same ignition timing at the same temperature and atmospheric conditions.

As Mike says my 2006 PPP (WRX) has seen 270bhp/320lbft and 250bhp/280lb/ft on different rolling roads. I know which i like to believe but at the end of the day figures don't matter as PPP transformed the car. If you can get it for £995 too then that puts it right at the price point of the exhaust/remaps but you still keep the warranty.... no question for me which i'd go for.
