quick question re: smashed scoob
Buying an s-reg 98 wrx 53k few mods. Its got light front end damage got the guy down to £2500 wondered if its worth the hassle to make a few quid?
Needs new wing, grill, fog and indicator lights. I think the bonnet and bumper can be repaired and front end needs painting. Drives fine.
How much do you think it would cost to fix? would you bother with it if you had 2500 lying about?
Ta

Hi there,
Firstly are you planning to keep her or sell on?
Imo i think thats an awful lot of money to be spending on an already damaged car, put the money you would need to spend on her with your 2.5k,save yourself the trouble and buy a nice clean example

to be honest, uk scoobs around that age sell for around £4,000 id guess. being a wrx and having low mileage would get you a little more perhaps, but a damaged one will lose 25-30% of its value straight away. obviously selling on you would be informing potential buyers of the crash damage. so if you buy for £2500, pay for parts and spraying, you may not even make a profit if no one wants to buy...
my car isnt crashed damaged or anything. 99 t-plate, cost me £3900, partially as the pervious owner wanted rid for insurance purposes, and it had 120000 miles on the clock. but and this is what won me over, was the fact the engine is only 50000 miles old, so that will last touch wood, then its a case of budgeting for wear and tear, like brakes, suspension radiator etc...
see where im coming from. if you fix it and try sell it, as its damaged everyone will want a bargain no matter how trust worthy you are...
just my tuppence fella
