Hi all,
I wonder if anyone on here can write a tuning list for this model of impreza and the benefits of each modification along with the options avilable. I currently have Magnex downpipe and decatted system, Spec II headers, Fuel pump (Walbro) 440 cc yellow injectors, Front mount intercooler with a powertec induction kit. What will be my next step now bearing in mind im running stock internals and clutch but i will be changing internals and clutch as thins progress. Am i right in thinking this set up is around 300 bhp? at the mooment and i need a new blower to push this to around 350? Should i go vf34 or go for a hybrid td05 like a 18/20g?. Any thoughts would be helpful and also where you would go for a new clutch and engine rebuild with the cost and options involved, i was hoping to rebuilt with forged conrod and pistons any other things i should consider whilst it is being done?. Lastly and sorry to babble on a bit but what is the safe BHP/torque on a standard engine and td05 turbo for the model mentioned in the tite.
Thanks very much
Phil

as far as i am aware,,,,the tdo4 runs out of breath at 280bhp...(andy.f quoted to me) as i had a uk 97 wagon and was going to tune it but gave up and bought a ver 2 sti 555 as the uk car was going to cost a mint to tune !

Without wanting to sound negative, you are talking about a 12 year old car with I assume over 100,000 miles on the clock. I was always told that the engine had to be strong if you were going to modify.
Sorry if this has dampened yout mood however you may be better leaving it and saving your money for a newer car. Otherwise you may be encouraging that bang earlier than anticipated.........

Early UK Saloons did not have a TD04 turbocharger. Personally Id leave the TD05 on it although Im curious to know how much a roller bearing VF34 will set you back?

It certainly takes a long time to spool up put it that way
. The car hasnt done way over the 100,000 mark it hasnt even reach 100k. As to buying a new car if you read the initial post you would have seen that i mentioned having it all rebuilt next year, i was interested in who would do it and for what sort of sum of £ too. Back to the turbo question is there any way i can find out without taking the thing off ?

Take of the induction piping and you will see some numbers cast in to the compressor housing, they will say TD05. You may need to do a bit of cleaning to see them. As for a rebuild, only you know the health of your engine and whether it is capable of handling some mods, nobody can say because its done so many mls its going to blow up.
