Default Is this normal?

Just got a quick question.

I've got a 1995 JDM WRX and it seems to be very short-geared

It sits at about 4,000 revs in 5th when doing 80 mph.

Is this normal or has the previous noodle-eating owner been playing silly beggars with it?

Well it accelerates like a feckin missile but it runs out of puff quicker than Vanessa Feltz in an Ironman competition

Twenty mph per thousand revs is what the RA gearing allows. Shouldn't run out of puff though, it should pull hard up to seven thousand revs and 140 mph.

Mine pulls hard to 120 and that`s restricted still, but`s that`s being taken off this week, it`s in API now for mapping etc...

Einstein, how come yours had the smaller spoiler for a 2000 car??

OK, perhaps running out of puff wasn't really the correct description. It gallops to 112 where it hits the limiter so I couldn't tell you what the top end would be without it but it's more that the gearing makes it uncomfortable

That's how it came from Japan. Prodrive imported all thirteen to use in rallying so they didn't want any of the extras. Although it still had air con
