Non-resonated centre will make it louder.
Decat will make it the loudest.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the Racebox rear silencer it's a top piece of kit and sounds great. I got the de-cat centre section aswell with the resonator. It amplifies the throbs nicely without ever being over the top (if you're after serious noise don't go for the Racebox) and still gives plenty of meat under hard acceleration. Mmmmm

Hi

I'm no expert but the Scooby burble comes about because the two exhaust manifolds - mostly called headers - are an unequal length. This gives the off beat burble.
The new 2.5's have equal length headers so don't sound the same. No back box or center section will change the sound just make what you've got louder.

Shoot me if I'm wrong..... agghhhhhh

Dont panic. The burble is there to be released!. I changed the rear box first to a tsl group n box and it sounded better but still not like it should. I then changed the resonated section to a tsl straight through pipe and the difference is amazing. Nice deep burble. Sounds better than my old 04 wrx with a prodrive rear box. I've left both cats alone.....for now!!. I'm told that the 06/07 still has unequal headers.

You will never get the classic scooby burble with the very latest generation cars they have equal length headers. You can fit as many decats centre sections back box's etc. The only way to do it is to change the headers to unequal length !!

This topic was covered before, and it was put to bed by Mike wood:

"For the avoidance of any doubt whatsoever, NO EU/UK WRX or STi has equal length headers. For 06MY the exhaust has changed after the turbo and is quieter than it was previously but the manifold primaries and secondaries are definately still unequal in length".

Get that exhaust changed!

It doesnt need to be loud - this was with the TSL Group N backbox and de-resonated centre section. Burble back and not too antisocial:

My '07 wrx has finally arrived into the country and will be ready early next week i also intend to fit an aftermarket exhaust and like the look of the TSL grp N backbox and the resonater replacement section, however, the ebay website shows the resonator replacement as '01-'05, is this the same fitting for the MY07 as i can't see any reference to models after '05. cheers

mmmkay, the de-res and center are the same as '01-'05 2.0l models, the decats are different though, and are specific to '06-'07 2.5l models...

Loud doesn't always equal proud Certainly a full decat will make it sound great. The HKS super drager gives a beautiful bassy growl with a few backfiring flamy pops now and then

Now if your car sounded like this

YouTube - impreza sti spec-c sound

That would be equal length headers (sounds better than the burble )
