Default Car Protection Films to stop chips etc any good?

Does anyone reccommend any of the car protection films currently on the market, I would like to treat my new second hand car.
Details if it was worth the money??
Thanks

by the way if you go ahead and you have somewhere enclosed were it can be installed and you use:
Armourfend - Paint protection for cars and motorbikes

ask for Dean to come and install it for you, as with evrything it is only as good as the guy who does the job

I was looking at a system for complete car, i.e. inc doors etc. esp since I do love a blast down B roads and country roads which are normally the dirtiest ones with stones and mud etc.
Car is blue and chip easily seen.
Any web links could be useful.

Bought my WRX a couple of months back and protective film had been fitted by the previous owner. Its not too obvious to look at and does seem to do a good job of protecting the paint.
Unfortunately on the motorway yesterday something bounced up off the road (possibly off a f***ing lorry out in front) and dinged my bonnet a few inches above where the film stops. Couple of lumps out of the paint and a small dent - gutted. Will look into these 'chip repair/paintless dent removal' companies.

So the films can't protect you from everything! - but worth fitting IMO when you think how many small stonechips the panels normally pick up.

I fitted side rubbing strips (shopping trolley protection ) and plastic bonnet protector to this '93 WRX when I bought it 6 years ago ..... seems to do the trick (you can make out where the plastic bonnet protector ends from the line of soap suds on the bonnet). There are a couple stone chips further up the bonnet beyond where the protector was fitted
