Where can I get one of those special permits from?
You know the ones, The ones riders of motorcycles have that allow them to speed through 20-30mph limits with no reguard to kids/people walking etc? without getting caught?
Are they very expensive? and do you have to pay extra to be able to blast up and down A roads at 160+MPH?
Can you get them from the post office?
If so I'll get one when I renew my fishing license

Im sure this thread will either be moved to bikers (as it could be cited as anti-biker and that would never do, to be in the open!) or someone will be along to say that is what bikes are for.
Or some such.....

I believe you have to the ' I don't give a f**k about other people' website.
i have some 'people' who like driving up and down my road without helmets perhaps i should ask them for you.

What a complete load of tosh !!!
I ride a motor bike fast down contry lanes in the middle of nowhere where it is safe to do so , and very slow in built up areas, because of the idiot car drivers that pull out in front of you potentially take your life.
I also drive a scooby , which I adopt the same policy of driving as riding.
You get idiots that drive scoobys and you get idiots on bikes , dont tar everyone with the same brush.

you need to ride a bike to know but..... in the scooby down certain roads 40 mph feels a bit quick but on a bike you would probably be doing 50 - 60 and feel just as safe.
I know it sounds dumb but for me it is true. Speeds on bike always higher than in the car.
Don't forget by the time you get to second gear in a car a bike is a small dot on the horizon.
How often do you read about terrible accidents caused by bikes ?? vvv rarely. Usually accidents involving bikes are caused by others.....

Actually a relative of mine was thrown 60 feet down a road after being hit by a motorcyclist a few weeks ago - of course she was out running so I'm sure the motorcycle lobby will blame her for something...
Oh, and I nearly killed a moron on a bike last week who thought it was a good idea to filter through traffic at the start of a lane closure when everyone was indicating to move over into the remaining open lane. Top idea that - the only reason I didn't take the ****** out was because I checked my blind spot for a second time before moving into a space that another driver had made for me.
There are good bikers out there, but all too often they run to the aid of a good few who give them a bad name by riding like total tossers.

Well put. It seems almost homophobic for a car driver to say a biker did something dangerous on this BB.
Good bikers never seem to warrant attention as they fade into obscurity like good Corsa drivers, but bad bikers - who weave in and out of traffic at ridiculous speeds and then rely on the fast reactions of the said drivers to compensate for their inappropriate actions, they do.
If you keep to the highway code and drive responsively, then you have no reason to even comment on posts about poor riding. So dont bother.

Im with xaiver on this. I've got a bike as well as scoob and you have to treat both with respect as well as the road. only do the speed when you aren't on estates and its safe to do so because you make a mistake in a car you can get away with it but do it on a bike and its your life!
I've only been riding a couple of months and the amount of cars that try to race is beyond belief
I never race them coz i value my life and i dont need to prove how big my ***** is!

You'll get one from the same place that allows minicab drivers to do U turns at will...
Supermarket delivery drivers to stop anywhere and block the road....
HGV drivers to pull into lane 2 with no regard whatsover for anyone that may be there...
And the biggest bunch of ***** in the world....cyclists that ride 2 astride. These are good for practicing how close you can actually get to something without actually hitting it, and using the power of a wake of air to teach them the error of thier ways
The list is endless...

Of course there are some drivers that cause problems for bikes, but how about the bike specific idiocy of using the dotted line between lane two and three for overtaking streams of traffic on motorways - is that in the highway code?
The last bike accident I saw was someone on a superbike who pulled out to pass someone going over the moors in Northumberland. They clearly didn't look up, just pulled out and booted it, straight into the front of a big Isuzu at over 100mph.
The bike hit the Isuzu so hard the Isuzu was thrown off the road and landed facing in the opposite direction. There were bike bits spread over 200 yards.
I guess it was the Isuzu drivers fault for staying on their own side of the road and driving normally.
The rider sadly died at the scene - I suspect he would not have known anything beyond the initial move to overtake.

Just been down the park with the kids and saw a biker, helmet and shorts, with a child sitting between him and the tank. The child had hold of the handlebars whilst the adult held the mirrors. Reckon the child was about 10-12 by the size of him. Sheer stupidity.

There are some idiots on bikes, there are some idiots in cars. The ones on bikes are just a bit more obvious at times and are more likely to die - whoever's fault it is.
