Thumbs up NOT just another Oil Thread .....

Just been into SCATS to get some Horse Riding Gear and guess what I found?

Fuchs Titan XTR 10w/40 Semi-Synthetic Oil ............. 5 Litres for £12 - sounds even better than my £15 Comma Oil that I buy (when I say better, I simply mean in Value For Money!)

Am I missing something or should I have filled my boot with the stuff??

I found a difference in oil quality before. This was in my 306 DTurbo. I replaced the original oil for Tesco cheap stuff and noticed a definate increase in oil temp and even water temp. As soon as I changed back to Castrol the car returned to the same original temps. Only thing I could attribute to the change was the oil - it was the same thickness too!

Ive just used the oil recommended in the manuals since then. Worked fine.

Indeed, I recommend using what Subaru state in the Owners Manual - and that is 10W-40 Semi ...... thats exactly what this Fuch Oil is.

Just at £12 for 5 Litres it seems a pretty fair price?

They generally recommend a brand name too. My example above showed that the thermal properties of the two oils differed even though they were rated at the same viscocity. I worried that the car running hotter ment that the Tesco oil was having difficulty cooling the engine.

For the extra ~£20 personally id prefer the peace of mind of having a premium oil.

Yep, call me a sheep but ill follow the masses on this one

I love money saving but, when it comes to something so essential to an engines function ill spend a little extra on something I believe worthwhile

By all means fill yer boots with the £12 stuff

Strange how the £15 Stuff has served me just fine for 2 years now - Oil changed every 6 months.

The only thing more expensive Oils would have made me is a lot poorer

And quite right too old chap. Did a 30 mile cycle on my iron horse today myself.

Tried surfing in Australia last year. Bloody difficult ! I felt I'd achieved a major accomplishment when I managed to stay on the board for 10 seconds !

Not another pissy "my oil is superior to your oil" thread..

tell you what pissy, heres the challenge...

if your so convinced your theory is rock solid.....

Invite any owner on the board here, to take up your f*chs oil and run there cars for there normal oil change interval....with this oil on board....

any cars that fail premarturely and the cause is atributable to the oil, you,ll pay the repair costs...

now if your that confident, you'll be lining up the cans of 5L ready to go...

come on pissy put your money where your mouth is...

me, i,ll stick to a known brand that meets my engine requirements, f*chs unfortunatly dosent ...

Well, FUCH Oil is highly regarded here I thought??

Don't they make the Silkolene stuff??

Thats why I gave the Heads-Up at £12 it's something of a bargain!!

Used Fuchs XTR semi synthetic in my RX-8 without any problems - many others did too.

Seems the price is too good to be true if you ask me - 5L for £12 ??!
