CHEAPER 30K SERVICE
Just had my car in at the main dealers for its 30k service which i was quoted as being just shy of £400 this included the old £50 odd set of plugs and over priced magnatec oil etc so the service guy told me to buy my own bits and they would use them.
£23 on a set of plugs, £32 for my motul oil and a fuel filter out the garage which i had from a previous time and they did the whole lot including wiper blade and number plate light for £256 saving me about £80 which i did'nt think was too bad for a main dealer.
Has any one else used this route or are other main dealers not keen on doing this? Just a thought to save yaself some money

With their high labour rates, the only reason for using a main dealer for servicing is if there is no specialist garage within fifty miles of you! If the car is still in warrenty it's not a problem as long as the garage uses Subaru bits and is VAT registered.
My 2- year service on my STi was £90 cheaper at Extreme Scoobies back in 2005 and that included more expensive oil and an 80 mile round trip as opposed to 8 miles to the dealer!
And yes, I've almost always supplied my own oil when using a main dealer in the past.
