Default Anyone else made this change.....

As some may have seen from another thread, I am looking to replace the centre section of my exhaust with a de-resonated centre section then remap my car. The car is a MY2003 Type UK STI with PPP.

Prior to spending the money, I would be keen to know if anyone else has had this done and do you think it's worth the 700 odd quid?

I would not look to change anything else on the car.

I really want to do this but I need a bit of comfort before spending the money.

Please help!

Mike.

I had my 03 STi PPP re-mapped by TSL Motorsport with the standard Prodrive exhaust retained. The results were impressive although you have to consider whether the benefits out-weigh the cost!
I've since replaced the resonated section with the TSL section but any power benefit is hard to quantify. It does however, make it a bit louder! With this set-up I got 341bhp on Power Engineerings rollers.

I assume you also had other mods in the mix to get that power output.

It's a UK car. In engine terms, only an STi panel filter, iridium plugs and running V-power

Thanks John - 341 BHP sound great on a UK Car

I have now been given the green light from the G/friend

Anyone else made this or a similar change and how would you rate the difference?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

I recently had my 03 wrx remapped by Andy forrest,
it's commence sense to add on anything you can afford at the time
before the map because the mapper can adjust fueling / boost
to accomodate the little extras. Hence squeezing out that little bit more
of a power output. I added an uprated fuel pump, high flow d/pipe, de-resonated centre, STI b/box and a Green panel filter all prior to the map. From memory Andy told me that by having a higher flowing exhaust system, he is able to map the car with a more aggressivle setting (sp?).
Does the PPP include an uprated fuel pump ??

If you have PPP already then you will have a Prodrive sports cat downpipe, there is little point in replacing that for a decat as the power gains (until you get much higher that you are aiming for) are minimal. I'm not sure if changing to a deresonated centre will give much extra when mapped - I cant imagine a resonator having a big difference on flow like a cat would ?

Sounds good stisye. Sounds like you are having fun. How have you noticed the difference on the road?

I think I will definately go for this change from the comments made on here.

Will there be much differnece between a cotton green panel filter and the STI one?
