Default VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR GOODYEAR F1 USERS.

Some tyres being sold here in the UK are a different compund and are NOT legal for sale or use here!

I checked mine and the last one I had supplied/fitted by Event Mobile Tyres - Your Local Mobile Tyre Fitting Service is not e-marked and therefore not legal!

I hear some Blackcircles customers have also experienced the same.

If you have Goodyear F1s fitted to your car please CHECK for 'E' markings.

Not just for the 'E' mark and short number (two digits usually) but the longer approval number too (6 digits+).

Dunlop Tyres UK

The letter F on the link shows you a box or a circle and inside this is an E with a number eg E13 or E5. Outside that box or circle should be a further number. The number outside the box or circle is the E mark. If your tyre does not have the number after the E13 / E5 then the tyre is not E marked and illegal for fitting in this country for use on UK roads.

By clicking on letter F you will find out more information on E mark

If you find that they don't have the correct and full 'E' markings:

Firstly get in touch with Trading Standards: Trading Standards Central - Trading Standards and Consumer Protection information for the UK

Contact your supplier and inform them that you don't have 'E' marked tyres. I also asked my supplier and Goodyear if they will be doing a product recall (if only to prompt people to check their tyres).

Contact Goodyear too:
Goodyear-Contact

It is not acceptable and it is not safe. What if we didn't come across this thread (or others linking to/from it)?!?

Also name your supplier so it may prompt others of the same supplier to check their tyres and help Goodyear/Trading Standards trace the dodgey tyres.

Bob

Total rubbish
The best tyre I have ever used on a Scoob
I have tried most and put them on the limits of grip.
They are expensive and yes there are other good tyres out there Such as TOYO but at the ned of the day its those four small contact patches that keep you on the road. And if you are going to throw money at something there is no better place to throw it than at your tyres.

In your humble opinion i take it.

I have had them on different cars and found them excellent, not that expensive compared to some other leading tyres either!

I've heard that the cheaper F1's available in the UK are made in Taiwan and the mre expensive variety are made in Germany, draw your own conclusions from that!

I find them VERY good indeed. Lots of grip, especially in the wet, and nice and progressive at the limit too.

Heard that some F1s were splitting at the sidewalls so opted for T1Rs. Reading this I know I`ve made the right choice!

Only if you dont buy the correct load rating for an Impreza. The F1 is not available in a commonly used 17inch size, people didn't realise, put a lower load rating on than Subaru stipulate and hey presto, split sidewalls.

I think the correct load weighting is 87y. I'm sure someone will correct me If I'm wrong.

I spoke to Goodyear Technical Support in some depth regarding tyres splitting and they didn't think it had anything to do with the load ratings.

Unfortunatley I didn't find the splits on the tyres until the replacement F1s went on.

I guess you must have got one of a bad batch? What did they say was responsible?

The important point to take away is that people should stick to load ratings advised by the manufacturers though!

First of all get in touch with Trading Standards: Trading Standards Central - Trading Standards and Consumer Protection information for the UK

I contacted my supplier and played dumb to see what they would say. They tried not to make a big deal of it and said they would send someone out to change it. I have also asked my supplier and Goodyear if they will be doing a product recall.

Contact Goodyear too:
Goodyear-Contact

It is not acceptable and it is not safe. What if we didn't come across this thread (or others linking to it)?!?

Also name your supplier so it may prompt others of the same supplier to check their tyres and help Goodyear/Trading Standards trace the dodgey tyres.

Hmmm bit surprised about the load rating on Scoobs, On my MK5 GTI and TT and I guess the cars were around the same weight as a newage STI but had a 91y or 92y rating, are the oem RE070'S are 90w .........unless on my german ex's it was higher to compensate for the amout of understeering you would need to do when cornering

I have just got four new GSD3's in 18/40/225. All made in China but with E13 and lots of other digits too. So presume these are OK.

Just checked mine which were all fitted together last November.

3 No. Made in China E13 029722

1 No. Made in Germany E13 028597

From what's been said on the various threads it sounds like these are ok, but I'm going to contact Goodyear's technical dept. tomorrow morning just to make sure.
