Now that EcuTek can run switchable maps does anyone think there is any benefit of the ECU defaulting to a 'limp' map when the car is started until a code is entered on the alarm keypad (do all newage have alarm keypad).
That way if the car was stolen with keys it would drive like a 1.2 fiesta, couldnt be screwed due to no boost and a low rev limit and would probably be dumped within a few miles without high speed chases etc.
What do people think.

i for one think thats a good idea, but it might be another reason to get a beating over if it became the "norm"
still i would go for if there was a an insurance implication of some sort,as this would no doubt help the insured car be returned, but i wouldnt want mine back if was twoced.
now im confused...

I wouldn't really want mine back either, but if I was going to get it back I'd rather get it back knowing that its not been bounced off the rev limiter in every gear from cold as I'm not sure the insurance would pay out for engine ?

My mate some time ago on a Bugeye STi had an EcuTek remap. unfortunately, IIRC, when by putting his foot flat to Floor and pushing heated rear Screen heater (or some combination simular) it switched map wit base settings and no boost ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

yes thats how you switch maps on Ecutek, but everytime you parked it you'd have to remember to switch to the 'safe' map manually. I was wondering if it could be defaulted to that somehow.

I'd love it if car manufacturers started doing this. (BMW do with the `M` button)
I'd love my Impreza do have a 100BHP setting and 30+mpg for going to work and back, but at the press of a button I get 300BHP for the overtake.
