**UPDATED**485.1bhp STI8 trying to get out the rollers
Update Japfest 2009 Videos
Well we went to japfest again this year at castle combe and took the Stage 4+ STI on track for two sessions. If anyone says this car doesn't get abuse then just watch the vids.
It was a really good/fun day and I was amazed that the weather held out like it did.
We had 3 cameras on the car and these vids are my attempt and editing them together.
They were both cut short though due to boiling the brake fluid as we are currently running standard calipers, disks, fluid and brake lines. Its just one of those things we haven't got round to yet really.
James driving with Nigel(James friend) as passenger.
James Greenwood Japfest 2009
Me driving with James giving me pionters.

So here we are nearly 2 years on an the car is still running after 160 dyno runs, 1 trackday, 2 races at the mercy of Mr Greenwood and 5500 miles of hard weekend driving.
I went up to SRR today to see James mapping and decided to give mine a powerrun/health check to see how she is doing these days. Well it was a little surprising to find the car ran this
517.4bhp
465ftlb
1.82bar
This was on vpower/15% methanol.
I think that this is proof that with good tuning big power can be reliable so a big thankyou to James at GRD for all his hard work to get the car where it is.

Here's a short clip of the GRD Stage 4 485.1bhp standard engine and standard ECU STI8 UK impreza at Saturdays rolling road day trying to get out the rollers. Had us all a little worried for a second
As far as I am aware this is the most powerful Standard 2litre engine and ecu UK sti8.
Also has antilag vids of this to follow.

Anyways im pretty sure that some uk guys have run over 500 on a standard ecu(know for a fact that Americans have), our claim is standard engine/standard ecu......would like to know if anybody’s done better? preferably on dyno dynamics rollers to give a fair comparison

Don’t think that quite counts Neil as by all accounts you couldn’t control fuelling properly so had to change to autronics

Not at all James, the ecutek is sitting pretty back in the car waiting to be mapped.....the fuel control wasnt the ecus fault, it was the pumps return feed! (Ask pat). The autronics made no difference until the pump problem was fixed :P
The yanks rarely use ecutek over 500 though i dont think, they seem to favour the cobb and other weird ones....
Not taking anything away from the acheivement though, its very good to see

im only talking about the ecu steve, and besides, you can make the same peak power on a 2.0 anyway...
yours is a built 2.0 this is a standard 2.0
