At 10.00 am for speeding and careless. Pleading guilty to speeding and not guilty to careless - I am hoping to get the CPS to drop the careless if I accept the speeding - we'll see.

I was planning on using the duty solicitor tomorrow, and save on employing one or buggering things up myself - was advised to do this by solicitor I spoke to. However, I have just been informed that duty solicitors cannot be used for minor driving offences - anyone know if this is the case?

You have bigger b@lls than me. I just replied by post.
Sulli you're probably cr@pping it right now, but just remember there's a whole load of people on this site that have gone through this before and survived. This time tomorrow it'll all be over and all you will have to show for the weeks of anxiety are a few points on your license and a fine.
Try going dressed as Father Christmas this may take the edge of proceedings!!!

Good luck.

HAHAHA - Father Christmas - not a bad idea, surely even Magistrates have a sense of humour??

Bit nervous, but not too bad as I know that either careless will be adjourned to another date, and then so will sentencing for both I presume, or careless will be dropped and then i'll be well chuffed.

Not that I'm proud of it, but I think I've been in court for every main driving/speeding offence going. All due to a mixture of stupidity in my youth and bad luck more recently.
Like all enthusiasts our speed sometimes creeps up a little more than it should. I think for that reason I'll be attending track days next year. Have u done any?
Sadly the long and short of it is that we can no longer speed on the "queens highway" and hope to get away with it. Maybe this a good thing and I agree with the pricipals (within reason)
frustrating as it is!!
Believe you me I would love nothing more than to open my car up on an empty road in the middle of nowhere on a cold, dry & sunny winters day - problem is I'm too worried about getting nicked to bother these days!!

We're doomed.

Scottdg

PS. Let me know how you get on.

Cheers for luck - obviously did a bit of good - I spoke to CPS myself, and after quite a chat (very nice lady) she agreed to drop the careless if i pleaded guilty on speeding.

I ended up with 4 pts and a £100 fine, plus £35 costs.

Quite chuffed to say the least

60 in a 40 - caught on Provida over 0.25 miles. It was on ringroad in Coventry, which is a dual carriageway with exits, and has no pedestrians.

I think I should have had 3 pts, but maybe the sentence was upped slightly as they knew that I initially was gonna get done for careless??
