Default Weight Wachers for STIppp

Thank Crunchy it's Friday!

I want to lighten the Car (I wish I bought a Spec C but I didn't) I've had the Air con out ect but put it back in as I couldn't notice too much difference plus the Girlfriend started ear GBH. Apart from light weight glass what other mods do you thing I could do to seriously lighten the load.

MY05 STIppp w/Reamp and Decat Centre Section 339lbs. Or then again is it worth it? Just after some opinions.

Cheers Dudes,

Alexppp

Did you really think taking out the Air con would make a difference???

Try going on a diet, or going for more power.

Without taking all the seats out, lightweight glass, carbon fibre body panels etc etc, your not going to make any difference at all.

Removing girlfriend will improve power to weight ratio better than any lightening mods and therefore improve performance.

Cheers ladies,

So carbon body panels and lighter glass is the way forward. I suppose I could of looked at the Spec at Litchfield Imports.

As above, you can do pretty much **** all without seriously compromising the car as a daily driver.

If you want to go faster, it'd be much better to mod for more power: the high 300's is relatively easy to obtain with a larger turbo and supporting mods.

What's the point........really?

I'd think you'd have to remove around 70-100kg before you could "feel" the difference.

On a timed event you would notice 20kg in times, but I assume you are not doing this, so what's the point?

I think I might just go and get a Spec C and be done with it.

Cheaper to sell up and buy a lightened version base model. Seriously!

The cost for lighter panels/glass blah blah just wouldn't make it an option for me. For an 05, you could get a Spec C.

You sound like a person who's interested in figures, so why not opt for a 20g Turbo (£1k), CAIK (£200), Remap (£200).

Should see you much closer to 400.

Then you can explore using an Octane Booster (+20bhp) and/or a methanol mix (+20bhp-ish).

She just can't do anymore Captin. !!!!

I did it one before and started buy "better" spare parts when it actually works out cheaper to buy the complete package. You just wanna make, wha you got better. Glass is one thing but if you can't polish a turd whats the point! (Figure of Speech) UK STI aren't TURDS!

If you but a Car with everything on it it works out cheaper that buying the parts seperately. Spare part cost a lot of doe. I'm happen to be a Spare Part Manger. It's where the money i'm telling ya. If you bought a motor Bike as all parts and wanted to put it together youself It would work out more £££ than buying it complete. thats true in any product - sort of.

Hope thats not too boring mate.

I prefer the handling route. I had a WRX PPP with a lowly 265PS, but was amongst the fastest in the WYIOC (West Yorks OC) due to superb suspension/chassis mods and an awesome geometry set-up. One guy with an STiPPP which had been TSL333'd as well as Prodrive springs and full bracing and other mods sat in on a test drive when his mate was going to buy it off me and could not believe how quick I could go, openly admitting that there would be no way he could keep up on a challenging road. Many high power cars see the driver spending too much time trying to regain control of the excess power and the situations this imbalance can cause, instead of being in full control and able to exploit any reserve power in safety. After chassis and suspension mods I recommend driver tuition. Police pursuit and Roadcraft training gave me a performance (& safety) increase that would have cost many £000's, and it remains with me in every car I ever own at no extra cost. These abilities saw me keeping up with many of the Scoobs at the recent WYIOC trackday in a diesel Skoda

Click to view my Scoob for details if interested.
