Is it illegal to?
Remove the passenger seat (and drive around with it out of course). The reason i ask is because basically i bought the car without really using my head. When we go on holiday theres all the s**t that will fill the boot, the baby, the missus and the dog. Now, i've considered leaving the missus behind but she comes in handy when the baby cries and the dog has a crap, plus the fact that we're going with her mum and dad.
My idea is to remove the passenger seat and bolt a sturdy carpeted board down to the seat anchors, this way the dog can be clipped down and has room to stretch his legs on a flat surface. If i can't do this i might have to go to the expense on hiring an estate car, or worse still shift the scoob.
Any advice/thought would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Andy.

I hadn't thought of that, cheers Steve. I suppose i could go to the local MOT center and ask there. Any MOTers on here?
Smartuki, how does this stand for the dog, have you any idea?
Thanks.

As far as I know the rules are something along the lines of, "any seats fitted must be in a safe condition, etc"
but i don't think there's any rule against removing them, people remove rear seats for roll cages, can't see why the front is any different

I had a turbo wagon but swapped it for a SEAT Leon Cupra, it wasn't a bad car but it wasn't a scoob. It lasted 3 weeks, then i got up off nights and just went and bought this one i've got now. I knew i shouldn't have sold the wagon on the way back from swapping it but thats in the past.
I've thought about a wagon but need a p/x, all the places i've rang when i've seen one haven't got back to me. I'll try taking the seat out and see how it goes. Will post some pics once i'm done.
On a different subject, has anyone tried roof bars on a classic? Someone is selling some on here, i asked him how they fitted and he said they fit to under the black roof trim. I haven't seen any fittings when i've looked though.

Cheers , will bear that in mind when i come to look for one.
The cupra wasn't a bad car at all, the spec was better than my classic and it rattled less. It just felt a bit slow and didn't have the noise you grow accustomed to with a scoob. The car i had was an 02 reg so it wasn't kitted like the 04 onwards ones are. Therefore it looked the same as a bog standard one just with better alloys.
