P1 as a daily driver
I would love to buy one, but just want to make sure that it will sustain the 30 mile daily round trip, what are the experiences of P1 owners in this respect? Cheers

top car.
But seems a waste on the daily grind.
Depends on your journey to work.
I use a £350 hack to work and enjoy the car on open roads when its much more fun than stuck in traffic, appreciate it more then as well.
Also depends on parking the car at work.
I work on a building site, mud and dust and low ground clearance mean I prefer to leave at home.

Thanks very much guys, well i work in a safe area, (next door to a police station) but most weekends im out with my other job so im all over the country at race meetings. Would a P1 be a better choice than say a type r, or and RB5? Im expecting to spend around 10k(ish)

I was once talking to a P1 owner, and he said his car had blown up. When I said "really.....what happened", his reply was "well, they do that"!
I wondered if it was a common occurrence?
Other than the obvious cachet of having the "ultimate" incarnation of an official UK Classic Impreza (I'm not counting the few 22B's here), what are the advantages/disadvantages when comparing a P1 to say a Version6 Type R ?
I'm fancying a newer model, like a 2004 Sti, but the temptation is still there for something like a ten grand'ish P1/Type R and have money left to fettle it a bit.
Options, options, options!!!

I used a P1 for a daily 100 mile round trip for work - was a lot of B road driving and was great fun, only down side was the massive fuel bill.
Great car though, one I wish I'd kept.

Once again the people of SN know better than the owners themselves.
Depending on how you drive your P1 you can get between 180 - 300 miles on a tank. On a motorway journey I managed to get 310 miles from a tank and the car wasn't standard!

I almost always got 260 miles to a tank out of my 1998 Wagon, with a few little mods (EBC, etc).
If I drove a bit harder, I got a bit less, if I drove like a granny, I got a bit more, but it made hardly any difference.....it was always around 260 miles.

Those with P1's - has the engine ever had any major work in its life (other than mods). A cpl years after they were released I seem to remember quite a few reports of replacement engines at around 25-30k being done under warranty ?
Correct me if I am wrong.

Why pay a premium for a P1 to rack up miles. (Sorry P1 owners )
Get a late JDM Classic either straight WRX or STi - far cheaper and fundamentally the same car. Will have a lot of money left over to upgrade the wheels and suspension if you feel the need.

i agree with 2.5sti, my terzo with a 2.5 pushing almost 400bhp only gives 180 miles out of a tank tops, and thats on tescos stuff, but if i put shell in then i get a few more miles out of her. Mine seems alright on a motorway run as i did from crawley to dover, ferry hop to calais then to outskirts of beligum on 1/2 a tank, which i thought was good.

I drove just under 200 miles yesterday coming back from Witney, Oxfordshire to Haverfordwest, West Wales. Stayed over after Japfest.
Avoided the motorway so nearly all A40. ESSO SUL. mild mods. Spirited drive all the way home over some fantastic A and B roads.
Just Over half a tank (yes theres a bit in the neck but thats where the needle was when we got home)
As for the topic - P1 would be fine as a daily its just would you want to use at such and put the miles on. Mines just a UK'er but I try and buy some cheap sh1tter for winter use.
