When I took my key out of the ignition this morning half of it was missing !!

Any tips on how to retrieve the key from the barrel or am I looking at a new barrel and key as im stuck at work 40 miles from home and stuffed

The spare key is on its way to me but no good until I can remove the broken part of the old key.

Any info greatly appreciated

But surely if you put the other half back in you should be able to start it?

Sorry, no idea how you could remove the broken bit from the barrel.

Have you tried to put the broken key back in, and continue to use it, as the rest of it is still in there?

Yep tried that and no joy

I was sat in the car door closed when I extracted the key from the ignition, i didn't watch it come out of the ignition, it was the natural reaction to just pull the keys out, I only noticed when putting the keys in my pocket the snapped part scratched me which made me look, spent 30 mins looking all over the front of the car incase in pinged off somewhere and there is no key part on the floor under the seat or anywhere in the vacinity so I have to assume its in the ignition, i'm really hopeful that when my spare arrives it will slide straight in and the missing part isn't still in there but as i cant see it anyway in the car i'm fearing the worst....

Oh well spare key should be here within the hour, i'll soon find out..

Key arrives, a quick prayer and it slides in, god knows where the broken piece is, now for a spare key.
