Scooby bonnet vents?
Forgive me if this thread is in the wrong place, but its not exactly a technical question or anything, just a matter of interest.
On the Classic Scooby's (mines a 98) what was the purpose of the two vents on the bonnet, either side of the turbo intercooler intake?
I ask this cause, on my Impreza, they are seemingly blanked underneath the bonnet skin by a plastic backing?
You can see that they are real cuts into the bonnet etc, but what is the point of them if they were just gonna be blanked underneath again?

When making a rally car Subaru has to make so many road cars, the vents where to allow cold air into the engine at certain points, but are obviously not needed in a road car.. but look the dogs !
I'm probably gonna get a million reasons why I'm wrong but I like my version
