6k Nurburgring car?
Hi,
Sold my Superbike, looking for a car around 6K price range to have some in, specifically around the Nurburgring. Will this price get me a decent vehicle for the job.

you can pick up S1 elises for 6k now. If you'll be driving the car there and not towing it I'd think about the practicality factor - I wouldn't want to make the trip in something like a westfield

I wouldn't recommend a Westfield or Caterham purely on the grounds of weather protection. Lat month I went all the way to the Ring with my friend's Cobra only for it to be raining and us not being able to use the car! (Not to mention being caught in the rain and the car ingesting some water which REALLY put a stop to our fun - but that's another story).
For pure track fun I'd go for something RWD rather than 4WD e.g. 200SX

A Subaru is not what you want if you are looking for a car specific for the ring. It is all well and good until something goes wrong or you need pads / discs while you are over there. Buy something German and you can't go wrong.
Does the £6K include preparing the car? If so you are into in-between territory....
E30 BMW - 325i properly preped £3,500
E30 M3 - More than £6K
E36 M3 - ok to buy but you wont get it preped for the money.
Mk2 Golf - £3500 properly prepped.
As said the 172 / 182 clio is a good car and reasonable supported with a dealer quite close by.
Personally my choice would be a £4K 172 clio, with £2k of preperation......which is why I am currently building and E30 beemer

Another vote for a Clio 172/182 I think. Comfy ish for the drive to and from the ring, and should be great fun on the track.
One of my mates has just got one as a stop-gap, and he seems pretty impressed with it and is considering taking it to the ring later this year.
Personally I would spend a couple of k's more though and get a well sorted S1 Elise. Probably not massively quicker than the 172/182 on track, but would feel much more special.

I took an E30 325 over to the ring last year and they really are fantastic handling cars. I also went round in my Type RA (not mine back then) an was just as good. However the E30 can feel a little slow on such a long track. Doing low 9.20's E30 M3's were taking 1 min off of that

Z20LET in the Mk4 mate. Not too prooven as a good engine. The C20LET is based on the XE which was used in the BTCC Cavaliers back in the 80's, head developed by cosworth etc (although fundamentally simmilar)
