what would you do

If you're doing it yourself rather than a kit then I'd still go AST. Only add the front ARB if you're gonna also add either the ALK or adjustable topmounts. Perrin do a front adjustable, but unless you are actually gonna use the adjustability, don't bother. A good geo set-up is critical. Powerstation are very well respected. I got mine done by a consultant in chassis design to the Williams F1 team, and it was spectacular. Don't forget the brakes. The Brembo's are good, but will benefit from Pagid Blue or Ferodo DSPF pads, and Goodridge braided lines are a must along with DOT5.1 fluid.

With 2k in your pocket just let them do the works, that would really be worth it.
I was seriously disappointed with the EBC Reds. Wore out in no time, lots of dust, poor performance, pretty $h!te really. Mintex 1144 were better, but dusty and squealy. Ferodo DS2000 (now DSPF) were the best of the bunch, and I'm told Pagid Blue are much better. I learnt Roadcraft after fitting the Ferodo's and so they were destined to last forever as I virtually never use brakes anymore these days

funny aint it most go for bhp first and then worry about getting it around corners where as i want to get this sorted first and then worry about corners. so you thionk i should get the whole lot done by powerstation then rather than do a fwew bits done my me.

That's what I did, and didn't need the power increases to keep up with the big power boys. They spend all their time correcting power-induced ****-ups and trying to get things under control, where I had control, kept it and usually passed them and disappeared into the distance (except on the straights). Keeps reliability too. If I do have another Scoob I will follow the same modding route, although if I do have another I intend to buy one which doesn't need modding (T25, Spec C Type RA etc).

What am I on about. I almost definately aren't having another Scoob. The '08 will kill the legend and the Evo X will hammer the nails into its coffin. Learnt about depreciation too, and if funds (& SWMBO) allow I will probably get an Atom. Buy for 39k, drive for 2 years and sell for 38k Cheaper motoring than a Perodua Nippa

Just the bars will tighten things up nicely, reducing body roll which then reduces understeer by retaining better tyre to road alignment. The ALK will also help turn-in. Some do say that just the rear bar gets better results as by stiffening the front it can reintroduce understeer by making it twitchy with sudden break-away.
Stage 2 adds the Eibach springs which will improve ride and remove the "bobbing" which is infamous on STi's. Overall control will be better.
The AST's are a league above, especially for anyone who likes to tinker. Many use the adjustability to just find a set-up which suits them, but I prefered to adjust it to suit what I was doing on that particular day. After fitting them and setting them up I never again had understeer, oversteer or even a hint of a slide, just supreme control at oftem excessive speeds. Combined with my driver training I saw cornering speeds in excess of 140mph. The icing on the cake were the RE070 tyres, as long as it was dry.

i think you will be getting another scoob. rite so its the stage 3 then , go the the full monty. and this you say will be well worth it. i have heard tha putting the front arb on aswell will dial the understeer back in?

Depends how you drive and how it's set up. If you're smooth and progressive then it shouldn't, and remember slow in fast out. Twitchy late brakers who are always getting sideways need not apply.

you won't be disappointed with the stage 3 kit - made a hell of a difference over standard set up for me. I would throw the change into the brake set-up.

You've got to ask yourself will they be worth the money and that will depend on the drving you do.
A very good (and cheaper alternative) to the APs is the Performance Friction set-up.

Another Stage 3 AST owner on an 03 JDM STi. All i can say is holy ****, it makes a huge difference. I thought my car was quick before but after having the AST's fitted it feels invincible
