Default Smacked in a Car Park in Hayes

Hi Guys,

Someone only hit my Scoob and didn't stop! I can't believe some people. I was in the Club with my Mates as it was his Birthday and then I can Tannoy'd to come out side, where the Doorman said that I think someone has hit your car but they didn't stop. I went over to the car and the Driver's Side Rear rear Corner is well pushed in. I thought that I could just pop it out and save all the hassle but then I noticed that they had cracked the Brake light as well. By now I was fuming. The doorman came over and said, "I did get the Reg if you need it?" I thought, what an absolute touch!!

Reported it to the Police the following day, the Reg Matches up. Spoke to my Insurance company gave them the details over the car & Reg. Won't seem to cost me a Penny plus I should get a company car. Seem to turn out ok but just no need for the hassle.

A letter of Prosecution has gone to the address where the car is Registered at. It will go from there. If I come across any Hicups on the way. A good friend can find their address for me through insurance Brokers and I can go round there for Tea and Biscuits.

Good luck and don't blame ya, if someone did that to my scoob they'd need a straw for their tea and biscuits regardless of what the old bill does to em.

Surely the police should get there ***** round to the address and check for damage or evidence on the other vehicle before sending out a letter, in which time the damage can be repaired and you could find it hard to prove he/she hit you should it go to court!!!

Sorry to hear about the bump anyhow, best of luck with it

You would think so wouldn't you. I guess as I have Photos (they haven't asked for them) and as I went to Pork Choppers first, maybe that coun't for something. To be honest, I think it's out of my hands now and they will be dealling with it. Unless I want to talk to them.

They'll do that as soon as they've emptied all the speed camera films in the area !

Best of luck with the claim, I had a similar incident but managed to get back my excess after a few months so no out-of-pocket issues! The old bill were pretty good at following up too!

Problem here will be if more than one person can drive the car that hit you.

Police won't be able to prove who was driving, so no prosecution

You'd have been better dealing with it yourself, TBH.

I guess if it all goes pear Shapped, I'll pop over and discuss over a Candle lit dinner

The Main this is that it isn't costing me £££ to get it fixed.

I'm Kinda thinking it was a bloke with a bunch of blokes in the car. I just Kinda know this for a fact as the doorman saw them get into the car.

Whilst true, as long as the prosecution notice was served within 14 days they can (in principle) prosecute the registered keeper for not telling the police who was driving, which carries something like 11 points and a hefty fine. Same as the NIP for speeding.

They could try and use one of the get outs developed for the NIP by scamera victims of course...

...
But they don't

In my experience, the ONLY time they will do this is for speeding, since they seem desperate for the money.............oh sorry, that can't be true, it's NOT about revenue, is it?

And when was the last time you heard of anyone getting any more than 3 points for failure to declare? AND a piddling fine. The only thing that stops most people doing it is that insurance companies take a dimmer view of it than speeding, for some reason.........oh, and most folk are hypnotised by the "Speed kills" mantra, so they just pay up.

This happened to me many years ago ... police didn't even try to prosecute despite me having witnesses. Police said I should try a private prosecution Taxes obviously well spent over the years!
