I was up there last night. There was a speed trap van near Walker Barn with an unmarked Volvo round the corner...
This was after 8.00 so they aren't messing about

Probably a reaction to it being listed on the 10 most dangerous roads. When will people realise that speed in itself isn't dangerous ? Bad driving is dangerous, a good driver can drive at speed perfectly safely. If only we could have traffic police that can spot a bit more than speeding and impose compulsory additional training orders instead of meaningless points and insignificant financial penalties.

I got pulled over a while ago for doing a licence loosing speed on a nice stretch of country road by an unmarked Volvo and he just gave me a ticking off and told me to keep my speed down so I guess some dont just give you a ticket just because they can, though to be honest I thought I was going to get one and did really deserve one.
I think being a mature driver (late 30's at the time), being curious to the officer and the fact i had slowed down to 30mph when we came to a village helped me.

There's been a camera van parked up in one of the laybys when I have been up there. It is just over a blind brow so not easily spotted when heading from the Macc direction.
It;s the bikers that are the worse over there - some of them are totally suicidal.
I steer clear of it now when it is a slightly dry/warm day.
