Default how much does YOUR car cost per year?

how much do you budget per year for your impreza? i.e how much would you expect to spend maintanance wise? tax? tyres? speeding fines?

just at the final stage of buying a classic and making sure i can really afford it!

using it on nights and weekends just as a toy. last year i did 8k in my old car including goin to work in it once in a while.

dont want to under budget. thinking a tyre change (all 4) will be £240 to £300? then £300 remaining for servicing & parts? not including things like re builds ect.

Tax £200
Tyres £350
Insurance £600
Servicing £500
MOT £50
Petrol £2300 (12k a Year)

Probably shouldn't include petrol so £1700 with nothing going wrong and no modifications...

Then again it's only money and you can't take it with you.
Plus the smiles per mile are pretty damn good!!

If you include absolutly everything, etc upgrades, petrol, insurance, tax and whatever else you can think of, in 2years, 9 months of ownership, around
23k, plus what I paid for it.

Robin, am i reading you right, so the 23k is just mods, petrol etc, not the buying of the car??

Me, 7k in 3 months...

Definately agree with the above Houlsby BUT if you start modifying budget many more £££'s. Once you start its difficult to stop.

Bought mine last September thinking I would leave standard, so far spent about £2k ish in mods but then have only just started.

I guess however much you budget, you'll always need more!

IMHO, you're right about all of it except the "worth it" bit!

I run my unmodified 05 WRX wagon as a company car, a reasonably cheap taxable lease deal (the cars are sourced, owned and run by our own company so it's pretty much non profit making), and even then with my 2000 mile per month commute I shell out £700 a month in lease payment, income tax and fuel. That's £8,400 per year

For that very reason, I've paid a £2000 early return fine to send the damn thing back and get something cheaper - a 106bhp Megane Diesel Estate!!! Before you all laugh, it costs half as much per month and if I'm honest with myself, all the miles I do are either to and from work (no fun) or weekend drives with the kids in the car (no fun) so having 225bhp and 4wd is a pointless extravagance.
