OH NO! - my Scooby isn't reliable anymore!
#1
Only done just over 31,000 miles in my Sti5 and it's failed!!!
Last night I noticed the nearside sidelight bulb isn't working.
What's all that rubbish about so-called Scooby reliability? And what's going to go wrong next? A slight wear mark on my Sti mats? A stone chip?
I should have realised something was wrong when I had the last service bill. How many litres of oil?
Maybe I should get a Golf.

Waysiders,
The problem is that because you've got an import the side light bulbs are designed to work in Japanise air. UK air is not the same and so reduces the life of the bulb. What you need to get is some air booster which you can buy in 250ml cans and you need to spray your bulbs at least once a week to stop this happening again. Failure to do so could cause total failure of all your bulbs requiring a total re-build of the wiring loom
UK models on the other hand have special bulbs fitted which don't last any longer but can be purchased at UK dealers. Or you can buy Prodrive bulbs which are brighter, last longer and don't affect the UK warranty but cost £200 each.

You see - it IS a problem with mats as well as sidelight bulbs.
It's becoming apparent that Subaru have a cunning plan to increase their sales. They have been making cars that wear out and sometimes actually stop working properly.
Not many people know this.
The more scrupulous manufacturers like Ford would never deal in such an underhand way - which is presumably why the Focus Cosworth will cost £26,000: it will, of course, never wear out, just like all German cars ever made.
I am sure there must be other Scooby owners who have experienced similar problems. I once saw a UK car with a dent in the rear bumper and I bet IM would be delighted if we swallowed the old "it was hit from behind by someone following too closely" story - as if that really ever happens! Far more likely it was another of those design faults that only appear once it's out of warranty.
It's a conspiracy, I tell you, and the sooner it's exposed the better.

Think I might as well just junk mine
Blown a headlight bulb for the first time in 3 years. Totally devastated. Nearly had to call the AA out ~ but I managed to muddle home
OK so I'll not mention the other items which died along the way....gearbox, blown piston, turbo, 1 Std scooby clutch, and 1 AP Sprung Paddle (3000miles), and a few other minor bits and bobs....
Traumatised by the blown bulb though......
But I AM still a believer !

Well count yourselves lucky.
I've had to replace the nsf sidelight, PLUS I had gradual and catastrophic number plate bulb failure.
First the left, then the right.
What mugs do they take us for.
Back to BMW for me
