DOn't think so, AFAIK it was the same for WRX and Turbo2000 i.e. 2 pots pre 98, 4 pots post 98. Seat were the same, pre 96-97, and then replaced with sportier seat in 96-97.

Nope brakes are fecking awful but did come with a better interior imo (my 93wrx came with standard sporty seats my mates N reg (UK) came with seats covered in what looked like tweed.

Not all wrxs come with folding mirrors either.
Late model wrxs came with 280ps (276bhp)

think it's the later sti's that came with 280. anyway the wrx figures are quoted using the 100ron fuel from japan. apart from the early ones which were 98ron iirc. gc8 should be arround somewhere to confirm.

To answer the insurance question. Turbo 2000 will be cheaper as it is a uk spec, non import car. Classic WRX are jap cars.

imports are a piece of cake to insure now and there's not that much difference between them if you go with a company that deals with imports. I do my insurance through gary moulson (moley wrx on here) at keith michaels. think it was £550 full comp with mods declared. 28 with 9 years ncb. live in a part of essex that'll hike up the premium too (near southend on sea)

Subtle engine differences, WRX is 9:1 CR, UK turbo 8:1, higher quoted power for WRX (240 rising to 276 on later saloons) is to JAE standards and a 240bhp WRX will give about 215 if tested to SAE/DIN standards.

Facelift wrx are 280ps (276bhp) and all the stats for import imprezas would be based on the same fuel whether they are STIs or WRXs (comparing same year cars)

Some early UK cars had Leather seats as an expensive option, not bucket seats but normal ones with the fabric removed. My car has this, looks nice as the door cards and mats are leather and colour coded too. Top speed of a UK car is not limited either, will do about 145 MPH if you can find some place to do that speed!! WRX 115 MPH limited I think.........

Officially 280ps but more likely nearer 300ps but although the same power it's the way the STI would deliver it compared to WRX.

How old are you?
If you are willing to pay a lot then you can get insured.
Imports are group 20 (wrx or sti), Uk is group 17 (think someone mentioned this earlier in the thread)

Try confused.com or similar and run some dummy quotes, by far the best way to compare quickly, an import was going to be about 25% dearer for me (40, lots of NCB £400 UK, £500JDM)

Top speed of a UK car is limited to 155 MPH. My limiter was removed when remapped and I've seen 165 MPH on my clocks on a private road with still a bit more to go...

And?
Why can't they have the same power output as governed by Japanese law (as with all japanese cars made before last year when Japan dropped that particular bit of legislation)
As i pointed out the STIs were most probably more powerful than Subaru admitted

And...why would a manufacturer effectively out spec one of its own models by offering something just as fast for less money. simple economics.

its not governed by Japanese law, it was a gentleman's agreement between the major Japanese manufacturers.

to the best of my knowledge and everything i've ever read (witht the exception of your info ), wrx's are between 240 and 260bhp, the majority being 240bhp. classic sti's were 276bhp.
